In 1952, following pressure from Nikola's nephew, Sava Kosanović, the entire estate of Nikola's was shipped to Belgrade in 80 trunks marked N.T.
In 1957, Kosanović's secretary Charlotte Muzar transported Nikola's ashes from the United States to Belgrade.
Despite having sold his AC electricity patents, Nikola died impoverished and in debt.
