Our happiness was short lived.
Mr. Edison with the bottomless financial backing of J.P. Morgan launched a full-scale propaganda attack on Nikola and alternating current.
Nikola was beside himself.
Mr. Edison spoke out publicly warning people that Tesla electricity would kill everyone in their homes within a six month period!
Mr. Morgan and Edison had destructive leaflets printed full of lies, slander and blasphemy widely distributed from house to house.
To Nikola's horror Mr. Edison turned Frankensteinish holding public demonstrations shouting the dangers of Telsa electricity by electrocuting stray dogs and cats. Then started electrocuting cattle and horses.
It didn't stop there. The morbidity rose further when Mr. Edison declared that he was using Westinghouse electricity to electrocute a convicted murderer!
Nikola didn't know how to stop this madness!
They misjudged the strength of the current and only tortured the poor soul but didn't not kill him. So they did it twice.
Thereafter they called this execution "Westinghouse".
We were mortified when we saw it all in the newspaper and knew that Mr. Morgan and Mr. Edison were controlling the newspaper as well.
How could we fight back?
Nikola decided that he would have exhibitions and run his own current through his body and then light lamps.
Still public opinion wavered, people not sure what to believe.
Imagine the world's most powerful man and the declared world's greatest inventor teaming together to destroy a lowly, humble man such as Nikola Tesla, my Nikola.
