Maybe This Will Work

As Jake held Dirks hand, stepping over branches on the ground, he felt his heart go faster, and faster. Jake breathing went a bit uneven, and nervously tried to get past a large boulder, one that divided the sea, and the village, but fell on it, trying to even out his breathing. Dirk's eyes widened, as he set a hand on Jake's shoulder. "You alright man?" He asked, as Jake nodded a bit. "Y-Yes, it's just a few minutes this way." He said, pointing into the dark woods.

Dave held Cal closely, as they walked into the ship, needing to the cloth they used to hold Cal on their backs. A native American was sitting on the large treasure chest, looking around, his bright blue eyes then scanning Dave. Dave pulled out his pistol, and pointing it at the native shakily. "S-Savage, what do you want?" Dave demanded. "What do you want? You are on our land." He said, almost sarcastically. "You speak English?" Dave asked, his pistol lowering. "Yes. I was going to ask the same for you." The native said, as he stood up, many inches lower than Dave. "You don't look like a savage..." Dave said, mumbling a bit so the others didn't hear. The natives eyes were bluer than most of the men on the ship who have blue eyes, but his skin was dark, and almost sun-burnt from working. "And you're nicer than most of the White Men I've seen." He said. Dave put his pistol away, but held Cal even closer. "So do Savages have names?" Cal asked, looking to the native. "Most do, yes. Mine's Johnathan, it's a white mans name, but that's why it was chosen. Prophecy said that a man will move to White county, and befriend many." Johnathan said. Dave nods, as he looked down. "Well, John, my name is Dave, and this is-" The ship door swung open, as Dave pushed John underneath the bed, and pretended to look around for the cloth, as Docs white face was red with fury. "David! Where is your brother! Someone said he went off into the woods, but my men say he's not in there!" Doc said angrily. "Why do you need him?" Dave asked, leaning against the wall, Cal sitting on the window sill. "I need him because a rifle was stolen, and I need him to take one of our horses and look in the village." Doc said, huffing. "I'm sure he'll turn up soon. He probably just needed some fresh air, he's never gone for long." Dave said, Doc sighing, and nodding. Doc left the ship afterwards, John crawling out. "Could've at least push me down a bit softer." John said, rubbing the back of his head, giving Dave the biggest, dorkiest smile that made Dave's face go red.

Jake brought Dirk into the woods, Dirk looking around. "Grandmother Willow?" Jake asked, as the woods suddenly burst into life, birds all flying away from this one large tree, as a face moved on it. Dirk rubbed his eyes to see if it was real, but Jake smiled. "Ah, Jacob, how are you?" She asked, smiling. "Great, grandmother!" He said, and ran over, jumping on her ground level branch, as the face smiled. "And I see you brought a friend? Where's your brother?" She asked. "John went out for a bit, but this is Dirk, he's one of the White Men that has came along." Dirk smiled a bit, and waved nervously. Dirk walked over slowly, and sat next to Jake, putting an arm around him to make sure he didn't fall off. Jake's cheeks went red, as he smiled at Grandmother Willow. "Ah, lovers I see?" Jake's entire face went red, Dirk's matching the color. "N-No..." Jake said. "You don't seem so sure about that, Jacob." Grandmother Willow said, a raspy chuckle coming from Grandmother Willow. "Sometimes, the right choice isn't the easiest. Sometimes, you must go against what others think, what they say is right, and follow your heart." She said, winking at Jake, before her face blended back in with the bark.
