"Yana. Wake up now. Five minutes were up ten minutes ago!" I groaned as I followed my mother's fifth instruction to wake me. "I'm awake." I yelled as I moved myself into the bathroom.

"Morning momma." I greeted as I kissed her and rounded the table to sit next to my younger brother, who despite our four year age difference grew taller everyday. "Hey Bums." I greeted. "Yes girl."

"So, I'm going to need you two to tidy today. Your father and I have got clients coming over. "Ma, you guys promised never to bring work home." "Ken, I'm sorry, this will be the last time okay, your father's been busy getting the workshop ready so we could use it as soon as possible." "Can't you tidy up then?" I questioned under my breath. "Sorry ma, we've got a late day today and Eli promised that we'd go over to the Peters' so Kyani and I could finish our group project."

That liar! He knew how I hated when I had to go over to the Peters' because I hated being the third wheel around Gary and Curtis. "Let's go." I stood up from my chair, placed my bowl into the sink and walked out of the door. "Bye Ma!" I screamed over my shoulder while Kenlan carried our bags behind me.

Hopping into my Mercedes G Wagon, a battle for the AUX cable had started, obviously I'd lost. "I'd do anything for you, anything dear brother if you do not play tribal house music." I said before a jazzy house song blasted through the speakers.

I loved loud music and this song was entertaining so I never argued.

Kenlan and I haven't spoken to one another until we reached school. "So, you and Ky huh?" "No, Ky and I nothing Eli.  I really have a teamed project with her." He cut me off as he threw my school bag in my direction and we walked into school.

"Oh man, Gar and I bet on this one." I grumbled, louder than intended. "There's my favourite siblings!" Zeyaana screeched ahead of us. "Oh great. I'll see you at lunch." Kenlan whispered quickly, squeezing me into a hug and placing a kiss on my head before he sprinted off. "Hey! I'm supposed to be the bigger sister!" I shouted, earning a tongue being stuck out at me.

"Where did he go off to?" Zeyaana asked me, sounding a tad bit disappointed. "He's a junior Zey." I patted her shoulder and walked ahead, towards my locker. "So, how was your weekend?" Zeyaana tried diverting the conversation. "Oh, it was boring. My father's only coming home today and my mother was having fun with the movies. Kenlan had soccer and swimming practice all weekend and I just slept I suppose it's all I could do. How was yours?"

Zeyaana huffed. I picked up that she was with Gary and Curtis. "What happened this time?" I asked as I leaned against my locker. "Oh, it was torture. Don't get me wrong Eli, I love them for one another. Yet I love them even more individually." Her complaints entertained me.

Zeyaana spotted the pair before I did.  "Girls!" Gary's hair was tied up into a man bun while he carried his school bag in his hand. "Hello Zey." Gary greeted her first while Curtis greeted me first. "We missed you!"

Three classes into the school day we were in the school café for our breakfast session.  Kenlan and his friends Dré, Jurran and Kyani joined my friends and I. "Hey, Gary, is it cool if Ky could wait until swimming practice was over?" "Yeah I don't think it would be a problem." Gary smiled.  "Why do you swim and play soccer everyday though?" Zeyaana asked him grimley.

I picked up that she was jealous, over the fact that Kyani got more attention than Zeyaana was ever offered but Kenlan was four years younger than she was though and as his big sister, I interrupted him from answering. "So, how am I going to skip house duty today if you're going to Kyani straight from practice, Bums?"

His glare made it well known that he didn't appreciate that I called him that in front of our friends.  "I don't know Eli." He stood up and stalked away, with his cronies behind him. "I adore you Ken." I yelled.
