*Two Weeks Later*

"For goodness sake Zeyaana. I don't need any more friends." I argued while she and I drove to school. "You're basically bff's with your younger brother. In your teen years Eli..." "And your point is what exactly? Ken and I are doing just fine." "That is exactly my point. The two of you, even though you're entertaining, should never be this close." She said pointing at me. "And he's got a girlfriend now, so I don't see why you have to hang all over him still."

I groaned as we pulled into the parking lot. "I'm his sister okay, fighting with me about how close we should be won't get you anywhere. I'm not going to abandon him because he's got a girlfriend." I argued while swinging my bag over my shoulder and walking ahead of her.

She continued to argue about my relationship with Ken, that was until he'd appeared in front of us. "You left early this morning." I said, pulling at his noodled, curled hair. While he pulled Zeyaana into a genuine hug, greeting her. "Yeah sorry about that. You've still got my back though right?" "You still giving me rides to class?" I responded. "Hop on numero uno." He said leaning forward.

"Everybody is using it though Eli'Yana, just sign up, I promise you won't regret it." Zeyaana had the upper hand but having Curtis, Gary, Andie, Kenlan and Kyani trying to convince me. Not so much Kenlan though, he already knew that I wasn't going to budge.

I shook my head. "Social media internet doesn't bother me okay guys? The creeps are high radar out there." "Well, Eli'yana, not everybody on these chat rooms are creeps." "Oh, and you'd know because?" "I've met someone who doesn't live too far out and we're really looking forward to developing something..."

My mouth fell agape. "You... You..." "We're just friends though Eli'Yana." Silence settled in. This allowed Andie to speak. "I've never asked, but why is you name Eli'Yana?" She questioned, leaning forward onto her elbows.

Doing the same, Kenlan broke into a heavy smile. He never smiles like that. Unless he's up to mischief. "Bums..." I warned. "Oh come on Yana. Everybody else knows, the sooner Andie does, the better." He said falling backward, stretching his legs.

I groaned. "Well, you see, mom and dad, they had Eli over here and they just couldn't come up with a girls name because they assumed that they were having me first." He said, pulling at the hairs at the top of his head. "Designers are pretty creative people eh?" He questioned into the open. "Ken!" I groaned.

His laugh ricocheted over the table. "Dad, is Elijah Dreekan, and Mom is Jayana Dreekan." He explained. "Wait, so your parents are the designers for Versatile Creations, the very same couple who designed my room before moving here?" Andie's eyes glittered.

I face palmed myself as Kenlan continued. "Yes, those are our parents." His laugh broke through between his sentence. "So my dad looks at my sister and mom says: "Eli." My dad looks up at her and says. "Yana." And they both agree to Eli'Yana."

As he finishes, a smile peels his lips apart. "That was well rehearsed Ken." I mention while the table breaks out into an applause. "How much practice did it take for you to shit that out?" Andie looks at us confused. "He is far too dramatic. I am named after my parents but that is not a true story." I speak as the bell rings and the table disperses.

Walking to my car, I continued to groan at Zeyaana because she grabbed my phone. "Come on Zey, I don't need it." I was basically throwing a tantrum in the parking lot. "That's okay though. I'm getting it for you anyway." I stared at her blankly. "What? It's a lot cheaper than SMS too."

Knowing that this was a battle I wouldn't conquer I gave up and slid into the car. Zeyaana unconsciously followed and got into the car with her face glued to the phone. "All done setting up your account, look at me now. I need a profile picture. I turned to look at her. More of a glare than what she'd expected because she still took the picture of me. "You could've smiled, child."

Fighting the urge to scream at her. "What's happening tonight?" I asked as I turned into the street of her house. "Nothing. Dad and I are going to fetch my car from the mechanic and I'll bring your phone back straight after." She mumbled. "Okay. Wait, what? No Zeyaana, don't be foolish."

I screamed as she got out of the car with my phone, and ran into the house and locked the front door. "Oh fathers." I muttered walking back to my car and drove home.

Since my laptop was screwed up. My phone in Zeyaana's possession. My brother at some sort of practice and my parents at work, I had no choice but to work on my writing assignment.

Considering my attention span was pretty short, I only spent half an hour on it and then took a walk around the house. "Note to self." I muttered. "Never, never live in a house this huge ever again."

Grabbing a packet of chips, chocolate, biltong and a bottle of coke, I trekked back into my room and continued working on the writing piece. After two hours of short span concentration difficulties, I dropped myself on to my bed.

"Hey, wake up aunty." Zeyaana's voice whispered as she shook me." "No. Leave me alone." I groaned with my head in the pillow. "Oh well, more pizza for me then." She spoke in a sing song voice. "Ugh, I hate the way you bribe me with food." I said sitting up, my forest brown curls cascading over my shoulder.

I sucked down on my bottom lip as I reached for my phone that was laying beside the pizza box. "Hey! Tie your fucking hair you idiot." Zeyaana screamed, I fell back with laughter. For no reason. I did as she asked and went on to wash my hands after.

"So, how does it work?" I asked her as I searched for in chat app on my phone. "It's pretty cool actually. You're given a map, of the city you're in and all the user's of the app in the city. Then you're free to choose anybody. The person who you've chosen has got to accept the request. It's a little bit less like Facebook." I laughed. Zeyaana hated Facebook.

"So, this guy you're talking to, you found him on the app?" "Yeah, almost two months now. I'm going to meet him tomorrow." As soon as that was said, my phone whistled. "Oh, that means that somebody had added you." Zeyaana spoke and shifted to my side as I viewed the guy's profile.

"Ooh, it's just how you like them, Yana." She smiled seductively. "Shut up!" I shouted as she leaned forward and pressed accept.

I grunted and quickly closed the app. Zeyaana laughed. "You can't log out, you idiot." I pinched her, my long nails causing a scream. "It's Friday, why not go to the mall or something!" She suggested as I walked her out. "I'll mention it to the guys and Andie." She said walking backward, out of the house. I nodded. "I'll meet you guys there."

An hour after Zeyaana had left my house I rushed to get myself ready while entertaining myself in between with the guy Zeyaana accepted on my Thread account. Bex: Hello. Yana: Hi. I didn't know what else to respond.

What exactly was I supposed to say? Hi. My name is Eli'yana, I'm sorry, it was my best friend, Zeyaana who accept your chat request. No, I wasn't that mean. Bex: How's it going? Yana: Good I don't know what it was. Maybe I was nervous. Bex: Oh, well I'm great, thanks for asking.

I didn't respond as I drove to the mall. Walking into the ice cream parlour I'd witnessed Gary and Curtis walking into, I felt my phone vibrate in my hand, giving me a fright. Bex: Whatcha up to Yana? That is your name right? Yana: I suppose you could call me that. I'm at the mall with friends. What about you?

My attention was drawn away from my phone as Gary called me over to the booth they'd settled in. "Hey, where's Ken?" Zeyaana asked me as I slid in beside Curtis. "I don't know-" I answered before Gary spoke. "He's at my place, he and Ky have been hanging out a lot lately." I stretched my hand out to high five him.

After ordering a Wakaberry we walked around the mall. I checked my phone. Bex: My friends and I are working on some music for a gig tomorrow. Yana: K, later yeah? With that, I turned my phone off.

When I reached home, just before sunset, my parents' bags were packed and standing at the front door. "Mom? Dad?" I called out just before Kenlan walked in. "Where are they off to this time?" He asked as his eyes were focused on the luggage. "Who the fuck knows?" I muttered as I walked into my room.
