I woke up at the crack of dawn, feeling queezier than I usually do. I tossed the feeling to the back of my mind and got out of bed and into an immediate shower.
I heard laughing, baby screams and groans as I padded into the kitchen in a dress top and flats with my hair tied into a neat ballerina bun. "He's Goku's son, he should be able to fight on his own, forget about the fusion."
I found Bex, Kirk and Kenlan lying in front of the TV. Kirk was in a sitting position on Bex' back. He was clapping his head against a toy in his hand while screaming.
I leaned down to pick Kirk up into my arms. He smiled before throwing his head on my shoulder. "Oh, hey Eli." Kenlan greeted while Bex looked at me, winked and rested his head against the pillow again focusing on the TV.
Kirk would cry if I attempted to lay him back down by his father and he'd cry even more when I sat down. "Here, give him to me." Bex said with his arms reaching out to take his son. Kirk however held a death grip onto my dress top until I pulled him back into me. "It's fine, I'll handle it." I lied. Bex nodded and sat down and continued watching TV with Kenlan.
I managed to get him to sleep. Yet he still refused to let go of me so I went to lie down with him. My phone buzzed, it was Thread, the chat app. A person with the screen name Izzy requested to be able to chat with me.
Izzy: Hey, can you guess who it is?
Yana: Nope, no idea. Who is this?
Izzy: Oh, come on Eli'Yana. Take a guess.
I was surprised. How did this person know my name. The only reasonable idea was that the person knew me.
Yana: I'm sorry, but knowing my name will not be enough proof for me to know who you are.
Izzy: Lol. Still as snappy as ever eh, Yana Split Banana?
I have never been called that for years. The only person who'd call me that was my cousin Israel and her parents moved away after sending her to a boarding school on a cruise.
Yana: Israel Dreekan?
Izzy: Well done cousinly!
Yana: What's up with you? OMG! It's been years. How are you?
Izzy: I just got back from boarding school. I graduated. I'm in the area. You still stay around eh?
Yana: Of course.
I was excited to see her again. There is so much to learn about her and vice versa. The only topic that may be touchy was that of our parents. She'd been gone since we were ten years old. Her father, my father's brother was quite ill and died a year or two after she'd left. Then her mother had committed suicide, my mother always said that it was out of grief.
Ever since then my parents had shifted away from a six year old Ken and I. It was difficult to adjust especially when they'd come and go leaving Ken far too upset. He wouldn't talk or eat for days and when he'd get back to himself it wouldn't last long because the cycle would repeat.
I finally got Kirk to let go of me after fifteen minutes of trying. The boys downstairs were playing playstation. Fifa I suppose. I couldn't brush past the fact that Bex looked in uncomfortable pain. He shifted from side to side, resting his weight on the good side. "Hey Becker, come on. Let's freshen that bandage eh? You look like shit." I commented as I reached his side. "Yeah sure, I'm not going anywhere though."
He pulled his shirt off of his body. I took that as my cue to get the first aid kit and a bucket of water with disinfectant and pain killers.
Bex was serious when he said that he wasn't moving. He pulled me onto his legs and forced me to clean his wound in that position. I cleaned him off in silence, fast and easy. His eyes were screwed closed as he allowed me to wrap him up but his pain was evident as he bit down on his lip and squeeze my thighs. "You know, all that hip rotation may have improved my bed action." He commented while tapping his hand against my bum as I lifted my weight off of him.
