I was officially finished with my school career. I need a little break from all of the studying and thinking but I also needed something to keep me busy.

Bex had to go to a fight, a rematch to the one he'd lost two weeks ago. I wasn't exactly hyped about it. While packing his gear, Scott had been trying to persuade him to forfeit the fight.

"Scott, come on, I'm not sure you understand the fact that I can't do that." Zeyaana and I were in the kitchen, trying not to count teeth and still picked up on every word the pair effortlessly yet angrily yelled at one another.

"Becker come on, it's dangerous. Are you looking for a way to die, that guy is fucking ruthless." "Jesus! I don't need you to baby me, I can look after myself." I couldn't understand why Scott was trying to stop him. He supported Bex in just about everything.I couldn't understand why he'd gone all protective.

I gave up trying to bake. It was Zeyaana's birthday. She begged for me not to tell anybody, until tonight where I would have to sing for her.

A crash broke me out of my thoughts. "You can be angry at me all you like. I think that guy damaged a lot more than the function of your left eye. The doctor warned you about fighting Bex."

I gasped, Zeyaana and I shared a look of worry. Bex got hurt pretty bad and a blue eye was the least of his injuries. "Well, that's not you or the doctors choice to make, is it?" With that he came storming out of the room, followed by Scott. He was going to fight.

With Zeyaana and I left home alone. The twins gone to spend quality time with one another, Kenlan out with Kyani and the rest of their friends. It was cute to hear that Curtis and Gary had gone on a double date.

After baking in awkward silence, we'd gone liquor shopping for the party we held tonight, we didn't only invite our friends but the entire matric class of 2015 from our school. "Aren't you worried about Bex?"

Zeyaana broke the silence, with a question I wasn't too comfortable with answering because I wanted to support him. "I am. But you heard how angry he got when Scott told him not to do it. I don't want him to be that angry at me, not ever."

The silence of worry captured us again until we got home again. Zeyaana hid the alcohol away before Scott and Bex returned, half an hour after we'd got home. Bex wasn't in good shape. "He got his win." Scott groaned angrily while he held Bex' weight.

I followed them into the guest bedroom. My parents room. "He was losing, one more punch and Bex would've been K.O. I underestimated his determination." Scott spoke as he lay a sleeping, bloody, bruised Bex on the bed.

"What happened to his eye, Scott?' I walked into the room and sat on the bed beside Bex. "Fuck." He cursed under his breath.  "You heard that huh? I uh promised not to tell you." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Well Scott, it's useless hiding it if I already know the jist of things."

He anxiously paced between the bed and the door for a few minutes. "Well, it's probably a lot worse now, meaning that he'd have to tell you anyway." I nodded and continued listening. "The guy Bex fought today, is ruthless. He was a freaking coward. The fight Bex lost, he was out to kill Bex."

A gasp escaped my throat. "Bex was winning. The first round Bex won and the fighter didn't like it, so he snuck jewellery onto his fingers and pounded Bex in the head. A ring made contact with his eye and snapped some tissue at the back of the eyeball."

Scott scanned my scared face. I tried hiding it by covering my mouth with my hand. "Bex may never be able to see through his left eye if the impact was as bad as before." I cried, hurt that Bex could hide something like that, that he wanted to hide it.
