Alex, third person
Alex slowely drifted back into consciousness. The light surrounded and enveloped him, flowing over him in waves of heat. He pulled closer to the cool object in front of him. It was rough, and made a soft purring noise. It only took him a few seconds to register it as a possible threat.
His eyes shot open, he gasped at the sight before him. The reptilian form of the creature was holding him tight, it's tail laid over his legs, keeping him from running.
He slowly pulled away, it's tail slipping off his legs. He slid the backpack off his back and unzipped it, pulling out an object wrapped in aluminum. Ripping it open, he withdrew the survival knife. It was long, and the back of the knife was serrated, for tearing flesh in combat and cutting. He startled the creature, which jumped up in suprise. He withdrew the blade, throwing the sheath into the sand, pointing it at the creature before him. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was almost the size of a Utah raptor, but had no feathers, like the spinosaurus, which seemed to fit its description.
The creature lowered its back, getting into a fighting stance, and raised its killing claws.

I woke up this morning to a sudden coolness against my scales, when I realized the human had gotten up, I opened my eyes through the blinding light to see the human not far from me with a weapon in his hand, it was long, and shined in the daylight. Then, he faced me, and crouched low to the ground, knife held backwards in his hand. I started to walk over there, to assure him I wasn't a threat, but with one swift swiped of his hand he left a large gash in my arm and across my chest. Why had he attacked me, Vera asked herself, unsure why he suddenly became so violent. While she was stunned, He ran across the length of her body, leaving a long bloody trial as he slid the knife across her side. She roared in pain, and turned to face the creature, who was already prepared for another attack. She lunged at him, and knocked him to the ground. He stood up quickly and tackled Vera, his grip tightened as he held the knife in the air with one fist, the other on her throught, he brought the knife down and........stopped. His eyes met hers and he slowely lowered his weapon, his shoulders dropped. She took this oppertunity to kick him off her, and before He could get up,she was on top of him, she hissed loudly and with her right hand, clawed his chest. She opened her mouth, ready to close her jaws around its head and break its neck, like any other animal she was hunting. The stuned look upon his face and fear in his eyes only heightened her instincts. Then that fear changed into something else. Respect, respect that this creature was able to subdue her and likely end her life. This is what caused her to reallize that this creature wadn't like any other creature that she hunted, it was intelligent, She closed her mouth and stared at him for a few moments then she slowly stood up. He also stood up, and looked her over. "Thank you." He said as he walked over to his knife, though he showed no interest in pursuing conflict, so she also remained calm, though she eyed him wearily. He sheathed the knife and began to walk into the forest. Vera followed, her curiosity leading her foreward.
