-Life and Death-

Ramona was the one to scream as all their eyes fell upon the young man who opened the warehouse door. What is wrong with him? Olivia thought momentarily petrified with fright.

The boys eyes were sunk in, his skin gray and drawn taught against thin cheeks. His hair was black and straight with damp fringe that draped across his face. The only vivid color he adorned, was a dark red smeared around his full lips.

"Liv, come on!" Matt yelled as he grabbed her by her shoulder. Ramona failed to hesitate and was already opening the passenger side door of her boyfriend's Honda. It was only then that she realized -while being drug toward the car- that the red around his mouth, was blood.

She was thrown inside the vehicle with panicked force. Olivia quickly push her long black hair out of her face from the back seat of Matt's car, and look out the back glass to see if the young man was still in the doorway. No one was there.

"Start the fucking car Matt!" Ramona demanded. His keys rattled loudly in his hands as he fumbled through them searching for the right one.

"I'm trying!" He said finding the correct key and turning over the engine. Bloody palms slapped the passenger side window, and both Ramona and Olivia let out blood curdling screams. The young man and his deadened eyes stared inside as he mumbled something inaudible.

Matt slammed on the gas, throwing gravel and a cloud of dust behind them as he sped toward the gates. The engine roared as Olivia noticed white and orange light illuminating the newer looking crane and wrecking ball as they neared the road. She knew she couldn't react in enough time to stop what was going to happen next, but she tried.

"Watch out!" She screamed as the massive wrecking ball collided with the car's passenger side door. The sickly sound of twisting metal and breaking bones filled Olivia's ears as Ramona was thrown to the driver's side due to the impact.

She held on tight as the car began to flip over on its side, and she flinched in terror as both her friend's heads shattered the driver's side window and skidded across the partially asphalted road. Sparks flew briefly as the car screeched to a halt, and Olivia lost consciousness.

A seething pain shot up Olivia's left arm, waking her from her fainting spell. She moaned loudly from the infliction and tried to focus her eyes. The horrors that came in to view sent convulsive chills down her spine. She was still inside the wrecked car, and realized her pain was caused by the young ashen skinned man as he bit a chuck of flesh out of her forearm.

A half gasp, half scream left Olivia's mouth which startled the young man. He took a few steps away from the wreckage, wiping the blood -her blood- from his lips.

"Oh shit! Macon!"

"What Samuel? Can't you see we're eating"?

"Macon, the girl in the back seat is still alive!" The boy -who couldn't have been much older than she- yelled behind him. Olivia's sight focused further, in the direction he spoke. The sight was gruesome to say the least, and Olivia had to fight back the bile that rose in her throat.

Amidst the rain, the young man -she assumed to be Macon- and a girl were crouched over the bodies of her friends frantically eating their flesh. They used their hands and ripped at the wounds they sustained during the accident to peel off strips of skin and muscle. Olivia caught a glimpse of their eyes, and they shared the goldenrod glow of the young man's that had bit her.

"What?" Macon demanded as he stood. Up until his outburst, Olivia sat shocked and disoriented, observing the malevolent situation that lay in front of her. Tears streaked down her face, but she then realized that this was not the time to cry. Now, her will to live and instinct to survive took over, and adrenaline rippled through her veins.

With Samuel's back turned, Olivia kicked him in his right hip as hard as she could. The unexpected blow sent him to the ground, just as she had hoped it would. She staggered out of the demolished car and made a break for the main road. She prayed that she could flag someone down driving by.

As she ran, tears and rain blurred her vision. She thought of her father then, and wondered briefly if she'd ever see him again. She regretted not heeding his advice earlier that evening of just staying home.

The gaping wound on her forearm she held tight against her abdomen, trying to apply some sort of pressure. Her body ached from the accident, and she only then noticed she was starting to limp. Olivia wondered if she'd have the strength to get away, or the will to fight them off if she was attacked. A glance around the area revealed a discarded metal pipe lying on the pavement a few yards in front of her.

"If I stop for even a second they'll catch me." She whispered to herself, but a metal pipe was better than nothing. As she reached the pipe, she stopped and picked it up. Olivia quickly turned to face the pursuers she knew were on her heels.

No one was behind her. Her breathing came in short panicked gasps as her eyes scanned further toward the wreckage for the three psychotic killers. Streaks of lightning lit up the entire area, giving her a split second view of the grounds. No one was there.

"Where are you?" She began in a scream, but ended in a whisper. Her gaze turned to meet the main road. Her heart lightened slightly as she noticed a set of headlights approaching in the distance.

"Where do you think you're going?" A voice that sounded like Macon's queried from behind as his arm wrapped around her neck. Olivia tries to struggle, but the young man was much stronger than her, and began dragging her toward a black van that was hidden in the tree line.

"Help!" Olivia screamed, hoping the approaching vehicle would hear her plea. Macon's grip on her tightened.

"Give it a rest, girl." Macon said followed by a slight chuckle. "The thunder masks your unneeded cries for help."

"Please don't eat me!" She begged as they reached the van. The vehicles sliding door opened as Macon looked upon her with a curious expression.

"Eat you? We can't eat you now." He answered. Just as a small wave of relief washed over Olivia's expression, he added. "You're one of us."
