-To the Grave-

"One of us?" Olivia questioned. "What do you mean?" Macon -ignoring her query- practically threw her in to the van. From his back pocket he retrieved a pair of handcuffs and handed them to the girl occupying the front seat.

"Caroline, use these if you have to. I'm going to try and clean up this mess. Samuel?" The guys exchanged looks like they had known eachother their entire lives, like they were family.

"Yeah." He answered hanging his head low.

"She's your responsibility, remember that." Macon said looking at Olivia with yet another curious glance. For a moment she could feel his eyes rake across her frame. The feeling was unwelcomed and made her stomach churn.

"I know, I know..." Samuel answered as Macon slammed shut the van door. Olivia watched as Macon walked through the slowing rainfall toward the warehouse. She was scared, beyond scared. Her body shook from the cold and she had no idea what to say or even think.

"What mess is he referring to?" Olivia asked with sudden courage, yet somehow she didn't think she could stomach any answer they would give. "My friends?" Samuel and Caroline exchanged a weary glance, before Caroline sighed and cleared her throat.

"You see.. " Caroline began, her tone suggesting that Olivia should introduce herself.

"Olivia."

"Olivia." Caroline repeated. "Due to the carelessness of my friend Samuel here, you've found yourself in a... peculiar situation." She began. Olivia noticed that with each of her words, Samuel's head dropped lower and lower.

"A peculiar situation?" Olivia repeated. She believed that the horrific events that had unfolded over the past hour or so were far worse than a 'peculiar situation', yet she kept her opinions to herself. These people were dangerous and she wanted to make it a point not to agitate them.

"Yes, and because of this... peculiar situation you have inadvertently joined our... lifestyle." Caroline said, having difficulty finding the right words.

"And what sort of lifestyle would that be?" Olivia quietly asked, again dreading any answer offered to her. Were they cannibals? Were they the satanic cult Matt and Ramona had mentioned?

The door of the warehouse crashed against the brick wall it was hinged upon, as Macon was slowly walking out dragging something behind him.

"Samuel. A little help?" Macon yelled. Samuel glanced nervously at Caroline, then Olivia before grabbing a gray jacket that was draped over the van's center console and stepping outside. No sooner than the door was shut, Olivia asked.

"What's going on?"

"Macon and Samuel are going to burn the car and bodies to make it look like a freak accident. It was the only plan they could think of. This sort of thing doesn't happen to us very often." Caroline answered, her eyes never the leaving the boys. It wasn't the answer Olivia had in mind, but it was a start.

There was sincerity deep within her voice which made Olivia relax slightly. Maybe they aren't the cold blooded killers she thought, but something was going on, something big. Olivia had to accept the fact that she may be part of that something now. At the very least she could play along until she could contact the police and be rescued.

"I meant, what's going on with the comment that Macon made about me being one of you now? What did he mean? You all aren't going to turn me in to a cannibal or anything, right?" She asked. Caroline turned to face her, and for the first time Olivia noticed just how long, wavy, and fiery red Caroline's hair was. Her skin was the same ashen gray as the boys, but Olivia could tell she used a little makeup to try and conceal the deadened color.

"Cannibals?" Caroline began answering with the faintest of giggles. "What we are is a little more complicated than that."

Olivia looked out the windshield as enormous flames and blackened smoke engulfed the wrecked Honda Prelude. It occured to her just then -in the orange glow of the fire- just how handsome Macon was. The rain soaked plain white t he wore clung to every toned muscle about his abdomen and arms. His hair was stringy, a bit longer that Samuels', and was as jet black as her own.

"Shit." Olivia whispered to herself as she shook the thoughts from her mind. What is wrong with you Olivia? She thought. For a brief moment she had forgotten that it was the bodies of her friends being incinerated in the blazing vehicle. And what exactly had Macon pulled from the warehouse? She wondered, making a mental note to as that very question.

"Who are you three?" She asked.

"A better question would be WHAT are we? However, I'm going to leave that explanation up to Samuel. He is after all the one responsible for this mess." Caroline offered half exasperated.

"Okay." Olivia said flatly, reading Caroline's obvious frustration. There was no reason to argue, she doubted it would get her anywhere. Macon and Samuel made their way to the van once the flames died down to embers. Olivia shed a few more tears as the guys neared. Those were her friends, now dead and gone. What would their parents think? What would her father think once he found out? He would come looking for her, she knew he would. It was his job.

Samuel got behind the wheel as Macon opened the sliding door and took the seat next to Olivia. As politely as possible she inched her way toward the window to create space between herself and Macon. He eyed her once again in a curious fashion before asking.

"You don't have a phone, do you?" Olivia's fingers instantly touched the thin bulge in her left pocket. She had thought to call the police while staggering away from the wreckage right after Samuel bit her, but knew they wouldn't make it to the abandoned warehouse in time.

"No." She lied. "It was in my purse which was in the car. I'm sure it's a melted pile of plastic by now." Olivia hoped that her answer would be enough for the three not to press the issue. She might be able to contact someone later, once the element of danger had died down.

"Really?" Macon pried. She could feel her pulse racing in her throat. Olivia took a deep breath and tried to act as casual as possible considering the circumstances.

"Yeah." She answered flatly. Macon shrugged his shoulders and gave a slight nod.

"Well, one less thing we have to worry about, I suppose." He said, directing the comment toward the two in the van's front seats. Olivia made a mental note that the next time she could, she'd place her cell in airplane mode or at least turn off the ringer.

"We can't risk someone coming to look for you, though I doubt anyone will now." Samuel added.

"Why?" Olivia asked, a bit offended.

"We placed another body in the car. It was a girl about the same size as you. Once the authorities find the remains, we hope that they'll assume it's you." Samuel explained without a trace of sympathy, even though he had just aided in the fiery disposal of three bodies, or at least what was left of them. He turned over the engine and started driving toward the ground's exit.

"Where are we going?" Olivia asked in a panicked tone. "Where are you taking me?"

"Home." Macon answered with a grin. "We're going home."
