I was running for my life with Maddy close by and mum was running towards us but the water swept her away before she got to us, Maddy and I were still running. We were almost safe but the wave grabbed us and pulled us in. I tried to grab Maddy but it was too late, she had gone and I was being tossed around in the water. I had forgotten which way was up, I had been spinning too much until I got hit on the head by a tree, so I grabbed the tree and pulled myself to the surface. When I got my head out of the water I had never wanted air more in my life. I looking around to if anyone was there. But I was the only one there. There was no sight of the hotel or any life. I had almost given up all hope of finding help when I heard someone screaming.
I followed the sound and I found a girl about the same age as me, well she looked the same age. I swam towards her; she stopped screaming as she looked at me. I saw a car coming up behind her so I grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the way and said “Grab that log” she did and I did too. “Thank you, if you hadn’t said anything I would be dead, thank you” she said to me. “You... You’re welcome” I stuttered. That’s when I saw her face. She had bright blue eyes and very pale skin, it looked as if she would have very blond hair almost white but I wasn’t sure because it had dirt and mud in it.
“If we want to stay alive we have to get somewhere high up or find civilisation.” She said. I nodded back and said “Yes I agree but first if we are going to work together I think we should know each other’s name so mines Alex” she nodded and said “I’m Isabel but you can call me Izzy” We kind of looked at each for a moment and then Isabel’s mouth dropped open and she raised her head and pointed to something. I turned my head to see what it was and there in front of us was another giant wave.
