Chapter 5
4:29
I would be right on time. Will's cute two-story home sat before me as I walked up the driveway. Before I rang the doorbell, I check my hair, teeth, and outfit. Was this a mistake, coming to his house? I promised myself not to get carried away, he asked me over to do school work, nothing else. Besides, even if coming over were for anything else, I trust myself enough to know that I wouldn't do anything I would regret

Okay, time to ring the doorbell. I was so nervous, that my hands were sweaty. Gross.
Before, I could do anything else, Will's front door opened. I look up at him in surprise. He's wearing a Stanford sweatshirt and jeans. Why is he so hot?
"Come on in," he says, giving an over exaggerated arm gesture to welcome me into his house. I sheepishly smile and walk in. I take a look around at the decor. From what I could see, each room was painted with a warm, neutral color. I laugh to myself, since his house was the complete opposite of mine.
"Alright, should we start now?" Will asks.
I nod my head, "Yup. Sounds good. So what should we do first?"
Will scratches his head, "Let's start researching first. I've got my textbook and my laptop."
We go to his living room, and sit on the white leather couches. We work and write notes on our project in silence for about ten minutes before I sigh and put my textbook down beside me in defeat.
"Bored?" Will asks putting aside his own textbook before giving me a smirk.
"Yes," I groan, "I forgot how much I don't like doing work."
Will chuckles, "Same. We can stop anyways, we have a while until it's due. Do you want to watch a movie?"
"Hmm," I say, "depends on which movie."
Will leans back and turns on the T.V. "I've got Avengers, 27 Dresses, Dear John, and Grease," Will turns to me with a serious look in his face, "I know the last few are great movies, but I hope that you make the right choice."
I giggle, "Well now this is hard. I know that you are really looking forward to watching a chick flick, but you see, I'm more of an adventure film kind of girl."
Will puts his hand on his heart, "Oh, I'm crushed. But your wish is my command." He then pops the disc into the T.V. and sits down next to me. I am hyperaware of the six-inch space between us. The commercials before the movie start and out of the corner of my eye, I see Will's arm twitch up, as if he wants to put it around my shoulders. Before I could see if he was going to put his arm around me, my phone makes a loud beep.
Will's arm goes to the position it was in before, and I frown as I pick up my phone. I unlock the screen and see I have a new message from Nick:
Hey. Did I do something wrong? Why were you avoiding me today? Call me.
I sigh as I lean my head back. I had tried to make it not too noticeable of how much I couldn't really deal with anything related to him. Whenever I spotted him in the hallway, I would duck my head and turn the other way. And of all days, he chose today to sit with me at lunch. I could feel his eyes burning holes into my head as I tried to ignore him. When he would talk to me directly, I just mumbled one-word answers.
Last night had gotten me thinking about my friendship with Nick. I know I was way over-analyzing what my friends had said to me last night, but I couldn't help it. Nick was about to say something to me, probably not important at all, but my mind was playing crazy scenarios of what it could've been over and over. Thank goodness I had ran away when I did, because I had a feeling I wasn't going to like what the words coming out of his mouth would be.
