Chapter 7

The final bell rings, and just like every other Friday, all the students rush out of school as fast as they can. I, on the other hand, take my time walking through the halls. I have no plans tonight, so basically sitting on my couch watching movies will be my Friday night. Pathetic, I know.

I haven't seen Will since this morning, and I wanted to see him before the end of the day. If there is anything going on between us, I would like to address it directly, instead of scooting around the subject. I guess it'll have to wait.

After I get off my bus, I head to the staircase inside my apartment building and head up to our area on the fourth floor. As soon as I throw my backpack on the kitchen table, my cell phone rings. I look down and see Will's name flash across my screen. I can literally feel my heart skip a beat as I answer, "Hello?"

"Taylor, it's Will."

"Oh hey Will. What's up?" I ask, pretending to not have caller I.D.

"I was looking for you today in the halls, and I couldn't find you, but I wanted to ask you something."

My eyes widen, "Yeah?"

"Well, I don't know if you're doing anything tonight, but I was wondering if you'd want to go out to dinner at Blue Claw."

I can feel my mouth stretch into a huge grin. The boy that I have had a crush on since before I can remember was actually asking me out on an actual date. I can feel fireworks bursting in my chest; and before I can stop myself, a giggle escapes my throat. Mortified, I cover my mouth with my hand before I can embarrass myself any further.

"I'm taking that as a yes," Will chuckles through the phone.

The hand on my hand grips my forehead, "Uhuh, I mean yeah. I mean yes; I would love to go out to dinner with you."

"Okay, um can I pick you up at seven?"

"Sure. I'll see you at seven." I stare at the phone as I hang up.

I look at the clock; it's 4:30 right now, so I have a while until I need to get ready. I relax on the couch and text Hannah with what's going on. Each of her responses is in all caps, and I can't help but laugh about how much her texts match her personality.

At around 6, I head to my room to get ready. Blue Claw is a very nice restaurant, so I start getting dressed. I put on a lacy black, tight dress and pull my hair up into a bun. I slip on my favorite flats and then put on gold dangly earrings. Lastly, I decide to apply a bit of makeup. I look in the mirror and assess my image. I have to admit, I look pretty good, and now, I'm ready for my date.

I carefully walk down the stairs so I don't mess up my hair and makeup. Once I get down to the lobby of my apartment, I check what time it is for about the tenth time this evening. I have a few minutes until he's supposed to arrive, so I sit on the bench by the glass door and send a quick message to Tess.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Will pull up in a different car. I jump from my seat and force myself to slow down my pace, so it doesn't look like I'm sprinting towards him. I walk over and slide into the car.

Will is wearing a blue button down shirt and a casual black jacket over top. He looks so hot that I have to swallow the urge to jump across the center console and kiss him. Will smiles when I turn my attention towards him. "Are you ready to go?" Will asks while putting the car into gear.

My smile falters a bit; I don't know what I was expecting, but I kind of wanted him to notice my outfit or the effort I put into it. Thankfully he doesn't notice my slight disappointment. "Yeah. Whose car is this?"
