Decklynn's P.o.V
They say that everyone has a purpose. And I guess that that is true... But what about those that think that they don't have a purpose? I know that what I have to do is important. I save people; I'm a hero. But what about the victims? We leave their lives before they can get back on their feet. We are like shadows in a cave. You think that you see us, but when you look there is nothing. So I guess that my purpose is to be invisible. To keep people safe, but never let them know who or what I am. I guess that that is my purpose.
To be invisible and complete the Mission.

"Come on Ryland!" I yelled up the staircase to my three-year-old son. "We're gonna be late!"
"Coming Daddy!" I walked into the kitchen and grabbed the toast that had popped up from the toaster.
I smeared some butter on it and put it on a plate so that when Ryland came he could have his breakfast. I, on the other hand, had woken up at five am so that I could eat, have my morning coffee, and be ready to get to work by 7 o'clock. Eventually, I heard soft little thumps on the stairs. I picked up the toast and handed grabbed Ryland's backpack.
"You ready for school?" I asked him when I had us both loaded up into the custom hunk of metal that I loved. It was my Dodge Charger that was matte black with silver racing stripes.
"Yea. I can't wait to see Richy and tell him about the new Spongebob show!" He said excitedly.
I smiled and said that was great. Once we made it to the daycare that Ry attended, I prepped myself for the pity-filled stares that would accompany us. I guess I should explain. I was a single father. Not that bad right? Well, it gets worse. I'm nineteen years old and just out of high school. Ry was born when I was sixteen thanks to a stupid one night stand with some whore at our school. For fuck's sake, I don't even remember her name! But I should be thanking her. Because of that hook-up, I got the best thing in my life.
"Common Daddy!" Ry complained. "I see Richy."
I chuckled. "Then what are you waiting for?"
I got out of the car and unbuckled his car seat and let him hop out. He ran over to Richy and I saw all the stares that I knew were going to come. Some were shaking their head discreetly and others were talking to their friends about the nineteen-year-old that was dropping off a three-year-old.
"Bye Ry. I love you." I said, hugging and kissing him on the head.
"Bye Daddy, see you later." He said, hugging me back.
I walked back to my car and turned up the All Time Low song that was playing. I raced to work. I was going to be late. Thank God that Mr. C understood my situation. I finally pulled into Elites Agency's parking ten minutes late.
"Fuck!" I grumbled.
"Watch your language Decklynn." A stern voice said.
"Mr. C, sorry I'm late. Had to drop off Ryland." I rushed.
"Don't worry Deck, you know that I understand, but get your butt up into the conference room. We have a meeting that you are," He paused, looking at his watch. "Twelve minutes late to."
I smiled at him and rushed into the elevator. I started to pace the small box wishing that I had taken the stairs instead. When the doors open I checked my phone.

Shit! I thought. I ran down the hallway, grunting 'hello's' and 'hi's' to people. When I finally made it to the room, Kelson, my best friend, smirked at me and pulled out a chair.
"Ry?" He asked. He was the only person besides Mr. C and the whore that know about Ryland.
"Yes." I took a sip of the coffee that Kelson placed in front of me. "How was your night?" I asked, already guessing the answer.
"Feisty redhead." He smirked. Knew it. "How 'bout you?"
"Ryland wanted to watch the new Spongebob movie and I had to -" I was cut off by the door opening.
"Good morning boys." Mr. C's gruff voice said.
"Hello," I said while Kelson just grunted at his father.
"Okay, so we have a new Mission." He started. I looked around and saw that it was just Kelson and I in here.
"Where is everyone else?" I asked.
"Wondering how long it would take you to notice that." He started. "This Mission is specific to you boys and your age." I nodded.
Kelson was also my age.
"You guys are going back to high school." When Mr. C said this, I knew that my face paled to a ghostly white.
I didn't do school after I had Ry. I finished with the best marks in school so that I could make the best life for Ryland and I.
"Sorry Deck." Mr. C said sincerely.
I needed this job and I needed to provide for Ryland. I knew that I had to suck up my personal feelings for school and do the job. So I forced myself back to normal. I was going to do this.
"That's fine. Continue." Mr. C looked surprised at my being fine with going to school, but I had to.
"Well, you will be moving across the country to New York City. There you will be attending Green Ridge High School. We have caught breeze of a drug ring that needs to be stopped. There are three dead and an unidentified amount of people that are included. But there is a silver lining.
"There are three ringleaders if you will. The main guy, Gavin Kingston, is the ring leader. His right-hand man is Kyle Withers and his left-hand man is Logan Matthews. You are to find proof that these guys run the drug ring and turn it over to the authorities. You are not to eliminate the targets." He finished, stressing the last part.
I was confused. "Mr. C, I'm an Eliminator, not an Undercover." I voiced my thoughts.
"I know that Decklynn, but I feel that this is better for you. You need to go out of your comfort zone. And I know what you going to be thinking next. 'Where is Ryland going to be?' and he can stay here with me."
"No!" I almost yelled. I stood up with so much force that my chair toppled backward. "He comes with me."
Mr. C took a few steps back and put his hands up in mock surrender. He knew how protective I was over my son, so I didn't know why he even suggested it.
"Okay, okay." He said. "He can go with you."
I sighed and sat back down in my seat. "Anything else?"
"You guys leave tomorrow, so you better start packing tonight. Oh, and by the way, because you are all the way across the country, there will be no backup. So be ready for anything. If my sources are right, these guys are very dangerous." He warned before walking out of the room.
I turned and started at Kelson, breaking the silence.
"Goodbye LA. Hello, New York City." I mumbled.
"You got that right."
