Chapter Four

Zoella's P.o.V

Racing was something that could get my mind off things. It was easier to let things go and not have to worry about the next meet up with my parents. It was something that connected me with Gage. He was always out to find his next rush of adrenalin. I guess that's why he joined the Navy.

I sighed. Thinking of Gage was something that was hard to do. He was my brother. I didn't matter that he was eleven years older than me, we were always close. I was doing whatever he was doing. He was the loving one of the family, so when he left, things went to shit.

Stop thinking about that Zoe. You have a race. I told myself.

I turned down my music and stepped out of my black and white Koenigsegg Agera and looked around. Normally when I come to races, nothing catches my eye, but one thing did. It was a bike. I started walking over to the owner.

"Nice bike," I said. They looked at me.

"Thanks." Then their eyes gazed over to where my car was.

"Shredder." I stuck my hand out.

"No fucking way..." They breathed out.

"Yup." I said, popping the 'P'.

"Name's Nolen." Nolen stuck his hand out.

"Your bike, is it a Ducati?" I asked, looking over the matte black motorcycle.

"Yea, Ducati 1199 Panigale S." He replied.

"Cool. See you later Nolen." I said and started to walk off.

"Later." I heard him say. It sounded like he was in a state of shock.

I didn't know what came over me to go and actually talk to this guy. I knew that he looked familiar, and once he said his name I knew who it was. It was that guy that I saw in school. The one that I had to show where the Physics room was. So this was great. I now had a person from school coming to these races and I just talked to one!

I didn't have time to think anything else over because the light turned green and I was off.

I won over three grand last night, but that wasn't the best thing that happened. My parents left yesterday so now I don't have to worry about when my next beating. And the other thing was a note that I got last night. It read:

Dear Zoe-Bear

I'm coming home soon! Being in the SEALs is great by the way. Anyway, rambling, I can't wait to see you. God, I can't wait to see my baby Sis after so long! I don't have much time so I love you and I miss you.

Love,

Gage

For once in my life I was happy. Normally I was happy to go to races or hang out with Danni, but this time I was even more excited. Gage was coming home soon!

"Danni!" I whispered yelled when I got to school. Danni whipped her head around.

"What?" She asked, looking worried. I guess that she was surprised that I was initiating a conversation.

"Gage is coming home soon." I was so happy that I forgot about whispering.

"Gage!" She yelled smiling. "This is great. Too bad you don't know when." She said a little sad.

"I can't wait," I said, going back to whispering.

"Me neither, my 'brother' has been gone for too long." She joked.

I smiled at her and she talked until the bell rang. We said our goodbye's and walked to our classes.

I was in AP Biology when the intercom went off, saying that we had a surprise assembly. I groaned. I hated these things. So close to others was just so uncomfortable. But I had to go.

So that's where I am now, waited for our principal to walk out and say whatever he was going to say. It was about five minutes later when he walked out. It looked like he was trying to hide a smile, but I wasn't sure.

"What do you think this is about?" I heard Danni ask.

I shrugged. I didn't know. Kyle, Logan, and Gavin just grunted in response.

When a smile broke out onto Mr. Goodwin's face I decided to listen. This guy never smiles.

"... And I would like to welcome our guest!"

The next thing I knew, a tall guy was walking out onto the stage, dressed in blue Navy uniform. He stopped and saluted Mr. Goodwin then turned to look out into the crowd. I screamed when I saw who it was, tears springing to my eyes.

"Gage!" I yelled.
