Knocking on his sons door Doug waited patiently for his battered son to wrench open the door. Knowing this was his chance to make it up to him for the years he was never there Doug straightened himself out No over drinking, no bailing when the times get tough. Nothing but staying for his son whom he hoped one day would call him dad again. And not Father. Doug hated the word. It sounded so cold and bitter coming out of Jason’s mouth but who could blame him. He after all he did make his son bitter towards him. But now he vowed that wouldn’t be the case. He’d stay and help him find Brecken. Then take care of them. God knows what kind of mess Brecken will be when she gets back, if she even gets back that is. Snapping his attention back too the door it slowly creaked open to reveal a dead looking Jason with a bottle of whiskey in his hand.

“ Son.” Doug nodded while pushing the door more open from its slight adjured angle. Not caring that his Father had just barged into his house Jason shut the door and fallowed after his broad shoulder Father. Just his frame alone took up the majority of the doorways he was walking through. But after all so did Jason’s. Father like son he supposed. Scoffing at him thinking of this man as his father Jason took a bitter swish of whiskey and let it burn down his throat. Pain, he thought. Pain was a good distraction. Almost a week since Brecken was taken. A week was far too long. From what Jared had told Jason yesterday, about those other cases Brecken’s chances of still being alive right now were very slim. But she had to be still alive. She had to be. God if he could just have his beautiful girl back in his arms. Alive was all he needed. He didn’t care if she was battered and destroyed. Just if she was here with him. In the safety of his arms was enough for him.  The emotional instability he could deal with if he had to. He knew he would have to if Brecken came back. Noone can go through what she is now without having some sort of tragic breakdown afterwards. But Jason will stay, he will get her through it. He just needs her here.

“ Son you don’t look so great.” Doug stated while staring at his son in disapproval.  Dark circles and blood shot eyes. Body barely standing Jason knew why he was disappointed. He was letting himself go.

“ Well that’s what happened when your girlfriend gets kidnapped. You tend too look like shit.” Jason hissed while taking a dark swig. Wincing as it drove down his throat Jason shoved the bottle on the counter and went to his desk in the corner of the living room. Shattered papers were everywhere. Sitting in the highly discomfort of his chair Jason picked up his research and began looking it over again.

“ When’s the last time you slept Jason?” Doug question, concern undoubtedly in his voice.

“ Who cares.” Jason muttered, sleep was the last thing on his mind at the moment. Sure little naps came here and there when his brain stopped functioning but he couldn’t remember the last proper night’s sleep he had actually gotten since the beginning of this whole thing.

“ Jason Anthony Smith you get your ass up out of that chair and go to bed. Your no good to us dead on your feet.” Doug commanded his anger apparent in his deep strong voice.

“ Yeah and your no good yelling at me Father. Go to someone who fucking cares. Im trying to find the girl I love, sleep is not on the fucking agenda!” Jason snapped as he turned his body towards his Father who was fuming in anger. “ You can tell me all you want but sleep is not coming until I find Brecken.”

“ Jason, do you honestly think being half awake is going to find Brecken any faster? Please if you want to get Brecken back go lay down. A few hours and you’ll be spring into action finding her. It will clear your mind. Just please if you truly love her .. go.” Doug pleaded. Knowing his bastard of a Father was right Jason shoved away from his desk and stocked off towards his room. But not before stopping beside his Father and leaning close to his ear.
