(6) Mad World

Nathan sighed and existed his office and made his way towards the girls room, but not before grabbing medical materials and food and a gallon of water. He unlocked the door feeling disgusted by the way they were treating them and walked into see them all surrounding the girl, breckens bed. They all had their eyes looking fearfully at him.

“ Im not here to hurt you.”He assured them while closing the door behind me and walking up the bed where the unconscious brecken laid. She was a beautiful girl and had such witty from what Nathan could tell. Her body was covered in old and fresh blood and was hiding the deep purple bruises beneath. He sighed and set the supplies on the bed and handed Kendyll the food and water.

“ You guys are under my control now. No harm will come to you again.” He assured them as they hesitantly took the food and water. They nodded and took the food and nibbled on it as he sat on the side of the bed and took the material out. He sighed before turning to the girls.

“ You might not want to watch. If its as bad as I think it is, you guys do not want to see your friend like this.” He warned. They all looked at him as if debating before nodding and walking over to the corner and facing the wall in a huddle. With them not watching he turned back to the girl and slowly lowered the sheet. The sight before him sickened him as turned her onto her back. She jerked before slowly opening her eyes alarmed. She was about to jerk up and defend herself and the girls but he spoke fast enough to calm her down.

“ Its okay. Im Nathan I don’t know if you remember. Im here to clean your cuts. Its okay.” He assured her while gently laying her back down. She inspected him before lying down. He took that as a sign she trusted him and he poured dis -infective on a rag. He lightly placed it on her stomach and slowly started cleaning off the dried blood. He saw her stiffen in pain and her close her eyes, to seal the tears.

“ Im sorry ill make it fast.” He assured her as he worked on clean off her.

The sight of her body caused bile to rise in his throat but he kept it down as he saw how much she needed his assistance. The bruises were deep. The cuts were wide and the beatings took an ultimate toll on her body as she laid exposed to Nathan as he cleaned her bloody incoherent body. Even if Nathan were to attack her and the girls at any moment she would not have the strength to defend them. Not even the girls. Of course she would sacrifice her own self to get the girls to safety but right now, her body would not move a muscle without constricting in pain and collapsing. Brecken slowly moved her head to the side and looked at the girls huddled in the corner in fear. In fear of Nathan, in fear of not coming out of here alive, all those fears she wish to take away. Even Brecken herself had those fears, but at this moment her biggest fear was Jason not getting their message and them not getting saved. She did not know what she would do if help never came, perhaps she’d strike a deal with these menacing men. A deal of her being their bitch, if they released her friends. She would without a doubt, in a blink of an eye sacrifice her life for their freedom. Without a question asked she’d do it. And in no way would that vow ever be broken.

Nathan studied Brecken as she stared protectively at her friends curled in the corner. Doing as they were told, not once did they risk a glance back, not wanting to see the real condition their friend was in. Breckens breathing was labored and her abs were constricted as she fought against the pain he was inflicting by cleaning his careless brothers victim. Nathan carefully cleaned the blood off her chest and slowly made his way down her body to her legs. He slowly lifted the closest one to him, and heard her intake a gap of air as the pain made itself apparent .

“ I have pain medicine if you would like some.” He spoke quietly so the conversation was held only between him and her.

“ No thank you. I’d like to stay alert.” She said threw clenched teeth while trying to get around the cracks that sounded when she constricted her lungs too far.

“ It would only take away the pain.”He assured her, feeling sorry that she was in tremendous pain. He saw her eyes flicker to him. The pain was un deniable there as he stared into her cold eyes. Not once did he think such a beautiful girl would ever have such cold eyes.

“ I said no.” she snapped.

Nathan stared at her in disbelief that she refused the pain medicine. The pain would no doubt knock her out at any moment so why did she insist on enduring the pain until it did? Did she not trust him enough to give her only pain medicine and not some drug that makes her unresponsive and vulnerable? Within time he got her whole front side cleaned and was taking the needle and medical string out of the basket. He neatly stringed it threw the loop and dipped it in dis-infective.

“ Are you positive you would not like to be out for this?” he pleaded with her. Hoping that the pain she has endured was enough and that him sticking a needle threw her creamy skin would cause more she would gladly accept.

“ Positive.”

He slowly nodded before sticking the needle into her side and pinning the large cut together. He quickly looked up and saw her jaw was clenched and her eyes were closed. Her stomach was tight causing blood to spill from the open wound her was trying to stitch up. He quickly grabbed a cotton swab and cleared the blood.

“ I need you to relax.” He said quickly as more blood poured out. “ Relax Brecken!” He commanded in his authority tone that he uses with the boys. Slowly her body relaxed enough that blood was not pouring out and was now only seeping a few moments of each stitch. “ That a girl.” He whispered as he expertly stitched her side to perfection. He started to move towards her other open wounds but she stopped him with her warm soft hand.

“ I don’t need anymore.” She spoke with her face tight.

“ You’ll lose to much blood.” He argued while stinging another round of stitches.

“ I wont.” She assured while trying to sit up. She closed her eyes and tightened her grip on the sheets as she felt the pain at its peak and explode. Nathan noticed her pain and carefully took her into his arms and lowered her back on to her back.

“ Why wont you allow me to help you?” He questioned. She slowly opened her eyes and stared questionable at him, the edge of hardness and ice cold bricks were still bleak in her eyes.

“ Because I don’t need anyone’s help. Its my job to help others not be helped.”

He stared in disbelief as she said she did not want help because she need to help others. He knew of course by others she meant her defenseless friends she felt so very protective over.

“ Let me help you, help them.” He begged. “Please.”

“ Don’t help me. Help them. Im fine.” She lied as she quickly fixed herself out of him arms and sat up. The pain stabbed her with great force that she let out a loud scream and clutched her stomach. Instantly Nathan had a syringe with pain medicine in his hands and stabbed it into her bare thigh. She flinched in pain and snapped her hard shocked eyes to Nathan with absolute loath.

“ I told you no.” brecken whispered as she felt herself falling into a dizzy state. Nathan held her in his arms and slowly lowered them into the bed. “ and I told you id help them. This is me help them.” He whispered. Brecken flickered her eyes to the girls in the corner that were staring at her with tears flowing down their face. Her eyes became heavy curtains of black before they sealed to her bottom lid and took her into a total darkness.

He watched as her breathing slowed and she slowly collapsed in his arms.
