Riza POV

I unlocked my car and popped the trunk, pulling off my shirts as I did, pulling a black tank top over my bra. Putting my messenger on the ground, I dug around in the trunk, the others behind me, and pulled out a baseball bat, blood covering the top half.

Morgan: What the hell is that?

Me: Something I was able to take from the ambulance before it left. Phoenix wasn't beaten with fists, but with this.

Nate: How so?

I turned around and held it in my hands, looking at Morgan's body, pointing at certain places with the edge.

Me: She was hit in the arm, both legs, and they got a couple of good blows elsewhere, but they pretty much made the bone breaks random, making it hard to I.D. where she was hit.

Mark: He's pretty smart for a person in a hurry.

We looked at Mark as he held out his hand, my hands putting the bat into his, Mark looking it.

Mark: He was in a hurry, but what he took care to make sure no one was able to figure out it was him.
He broke the bones in certain places, but made sure they random. The burn marks on her arms aren't of anger, but out of curiosity.

Me: Curiosity?

He nodded and held it out, fingers running down the handle, stopping at a chipped portion of it. Everyone looked at it as he ran his middle finger over it, a sigh leaving his mouth.

Nate: What's wrong?

Mark: He burned marks into her body, but now before stabbing her in the foot with a piece of the bat the chipped off when he hitting her. So he made sure the blood covered up most of his handy work.

He handed the bat back to me and I put it back in my car, pulling on a flannel, the sleeves cut, to cover up my tank top. The bell rang as we walked back towards the school, kids rushing to their classes.

Me: Okay. So we have detention after school, but I can't go home after that. I have to avoid my parents for a while.

Morgan: You can crash over at my place. My parents won't mind if you sleep in the guest bedroom. You did pack clothes over there in case you needed somewhere to stay.

I nodded and everyone looked at each other, our eyes searching each others.

Nate: I guess we're in this together. Until we find out what happened to Phoenix.

Mark: Well, I mean there's a huge maybe in here, I mean we can hang out and discuss more ideas on how to I.D. the guy who did. Because we are nearby the place where she was.

Roy: He's right. Unless we watch each others backs then who knows which one of us will be next.

Morgan: Yeah.

Me: I'm not about to let anyone else get hurt because of this psychopath out there, watching our every move.

Everyone nodded and Nate ran a hand through his hair, looking around quickly before looking back at us, nodding his head.

Nate: Guess we need to be careful. Which means we need to give each other our numbers so we can stay in contact.

We pulled out our phones and gave everyone our numbers, making sure we had them in our contacts, Morgan sighing.

Morgan: Let's hope we don't need to call in case of an emergency.

Me: Same here.

The bell rang again and I cursed, everyone looking at each other one last time before walking in the direction of our classes, Roy following me to our shared fifth period.
