It was the middle of the day when it happened. I was at school when my teacher called me into hallway. The principal was with her and they were quiet. They sat me down and said something horrible had happened. My mom had been killed in a fire at the house and my dad was missing. I remember being scared and confused why my dad was missing. They told me that most likely my dad had been the cause of the fire. This confused me because my parents had the perfect relationship...

My name is Amanda Rose. I live in an orphanage and have no family. I am 17 years old. I was fourteen when my mother was killed by my father. Do I deserve to be here? What did I do to deserve this life? Working to live isn't exactly ideal and my scars are becoming more obvious. What do I do? My options are becoming less and less each day.
