3rd Person POV

Maya Hart walked into Topanga's, the little coffee shop across from her apartment. The cafe always had some sort of magic to it, today, it was the waiter. Maya sat down at her regular table, waiting for her normal waiter, so she could order her typical breakfast. Everything that happened in the mornings, had become a routine for Maya. She got up, showered, got dressed, did her makeup, the headed to Topanga's, where her waiter, which always happened to be Luke Ross, would ask her what she wanted, she would say "the regular" and she'd have her breakfast, and be at her college in half an hour, just as the 10 minute warning bell went off.

That is, until today. Everything was the same when she woke up. She showered, dressed and applied her makeup, then headed to Topanga's. But today was a little bit different, she didn't have her regular waiter, but she didn't know that till she looked up. The waiter went up to her and asked "What will it be today, Miss?" And of course, not recognizing the voice, nor looking up from her phone, she said "the usual." In a flat tone. "And that is?" He asked, thoroughly confused.

Maya looked up at the dirty brown, green eyed waiter. "You're not Luke!" She yelled. "No, I'm Lucas Friar, I just started working here today." She thought to herself 'The new guy is kind of cute...' She looked up at Lucas again, and he asked her once more, "What is 'the usual' miss..."
"Call me Maya" she retorted, then followed up with "and I'll have one cinnamon raisin toasted bagel with extra butter, an orange juice and a chocolate chip muffin please."
"That's the usual?" He asked, as he wrote down her order. He looked at her, as she nodded her head. "Noted." He stated. "Coming right up, Maya" he said with a wink before leaving again, leaving Maya in a trail of thoughts.

'He has a really Texan vibe to him, I wonder if that's where he's from?' She thought, as he gave her the order, as well as a side of a slight smirk, making blush creep up her cheeks. 'No Maya stop it!' She thought as she exited the building.

All day she couldn't stop thinking about the supposed Texan waiter. The dirty brown hair, deep green eyes, and the thick, Texan type accent to his voice. 'Lucas Friar', she thought to herself, 'interesting name, wonder if he has a lady love' Wait.. What? Why was she thinking these things? She internally smacked herself, and tried to reconcentrate on her work. She got through the rest of the day, and ended up heading to Topanga's after school to see Lucas. Not only was he really dreamy, he was new, so she thought that maybe she could show him around the city, and also possibly get to know more about him.

She pushed the doors open, hearing those magical bells that made everyone in their seats turn heads, and not in the weird way, like actually turn their heads to see who was entering through the door. She was surprised when she entered to see Lucas by himself, cleaning up the store.
"Hey hopalong" she said, with a slight smirk, catching him off guard, and his attention.
"Hey you." He said, smirking back at her.
"So, since you're new here, I have no life and you're stuck in the store cleaning, how bout afterwards, I show you around, help you pick out a place, since you'll be my regular waiter from now on." She said confidently.
"Sure, but I've already got a place... I guess." He said quietly.
"Cool. Where would that be?" She said, asking a bit more concerned, but still with a sarcastic tone.
"Oh, I'm living in a rundown Motel until I can afford an actual apartment. What about you?" He said seriously.
"I live just across the street, in the apartments. I live in one of the penthouses. I'm a college student though, so I don't spend a lot of my time there. I'm actually pretty good friends with the landlord. If you want, I can ask him to hook you up with a place? My treat."
"Nice! And thanks, I'll consider it. Let me close up here, and you can show me around. I just moved her from Austin, Texas. So this isn't really my..."
"Natural environment?" She said in a Texan accent.
"I don't talk the that, and exactly." He said, walking out of the store, and locking doors, as Maya laughed hysterically.

All night Lucas and Maya walked around NYC as she showed him famous monuments, buildings, and how to not look like a tourist/ newcomer. They got to know each other, and had become close friends.

The Next Day

Maya went over to her best friend, Riley Matthews house, later the next day. They hadn't seen each other much since school started, but their memories of summer lingered in their minds. Maya walked in through Riley's window, it'd been that way forever. Their traditions were never lost. They still talked in the bay window, and they were still the ray of sunshine, and the rebel. They were just grown up.
"So tell me peaches, how's life been to you lately?" Riley said to her best friend as they sat in Riley's bay window.
"I kinda sorta like my new waiter at your moms Cafe..." Maya said blushing.
"Oh, Lucas? I've met him. He's pretty cute... butnotascuteasfarkle" she said, saying the last part really fast. Maya still heard it though.
"YOU LIKE FARKLE?!" Maya screamed for the whole neighbourhood.
"SHHH!" Riley said, putting her index finger to Maya's mouth to shut her up.
Riley continued, "Well, we saw each other in the library the other day, we started talking again. He's grown up, and cute."
"Pumpkin! That's awesome" Maya exclaimed, as the girls hugged, and they moved on from that conversation.

Later That Evening
"Hey, cowboy" Maya said as she entered Topanga's.
"Maya" he said, smiling, and nodding his head.
"You know how we both don't have proper social lives?" Maya asked
"I don't like where this is going... But yea I guess." Lucas stated, throwing out the garbage, sand and debris in the dustpan.
"Well I was wondering since we're both free tonight, if you'd wanna come over to my place want watch Disney movies with me.
"Uh, sure. Just let me finish up here." Lucas said, as Maya went to help him clean the store.

A few months later
Lucas, Maya, Riley and Farkle had become a close group, Maya was the closest with Lucas and Riley though.
One day, Lucas texted her to meet him down in Central Park. She was curious as to why he had just invited her, and not Riley and Farkle as well, but she didn't question it that much, she hadn't hung out with Lucas alone for awhile.

As soon as she got there, he grabbed her hand and took her to the little pond at the end of the park. There, he had a blanket and picnic basket set up. She sat down, admiring what he'd done for her. She immediately threw her arms around him, and hugged him.

After eating, he took her hand again, except when she went to get up, he pulled her back down. Now she was confused. He caught her attention, and started talking.
"Listen, Maya. I've been having really weird feelings for someone lately. What should I do?" Her face was filled with shock. Even though she was hurt, he was one of her best friends, so she said
"Tell her how you feel. She'll be pleased to know such a great guy wants to be with her." She said, smiling. But deep down, she was hurt.
"Okay, thanks." He said, as he started to get up.
"Oh, and one more thing, Maya." He said, making her look into his emerald green eyes.
"I really like you" He says quickly, taking her hands, and pulling her up.
"I like you too Huckleberry" she said, nestling her head into his chest.
"So... You want to be my girlfriend?" He says with a slight smirk on his face.
"I'd love to." She said, as he put his arm around her for the very first time, and they headed back to their apartments.
