After a week of being in Amherstview, a little town just outside of Kingston, Maya finally had time to relax. She was about to head into Gr. 8, but first she had to adjust to a summer without Riley, Lucas or Farkle.
She headed down her street to see if there was any girls there her age, that she could possibly be friends with.
A brunette sitting in her bay window, with a red head and a dog beside her, caught her eye. The brunette must've caught sight of her as well, because the red head and the brunette were soon stepping out the doorway, and coming down to where she was standing.
"Hi!" The red head said cheerfully, as they finally approached Maya.
"Hi, I'm Maya." She said, choosing to be friendly with the two girls.
"I'm Kenzie, and that's Olivia." The brunette said, as the red head (or Olivia) waved.
"What grade are you guys in?" Maya asked, wanting to get to know the two girls, still unsure if they would be able to tide her over until she got back to NYC.
"Oh, we're about to head into Gr. 8" Olivia said.
"So you're the new neighbour living in 27?" Kenzie asked, as she offered me to step inside her home.
"That's me. I just moved here from NYC" Maya said, taking a seat in the bay window.
"Why the bay window?" Kenzie asked, not knowing about Riley, and their bay window.
"Oh, it's where my best friend and I sat all the time when we were talking about super serious, and sometimes not so serious issues. It's been a staple piece to our friendship." Maya said, admiring the large bay window.
"Oh, well when I do get to come over to Kenzie's house, we normally sit on the couch or her bed, when we have talks like that, although they don't happen that often." Olivia said, as the girls sat down in the window.
"So, why were you sitting in the window in the first place?" Maya asked, getting up.
"Oh, we were waiting for our other best friend, Caitlyn to arrive. She should be here soon" Kenzie said, as Olivia and her motioned for Maya to sit on the couch.Their friend Caitlyn eventually arrived, and they had a good time talking before Olivia and Caitlyn headed home, a few hours later.
Summer started, and ended in the blink of an eye, but Maya'd made some friends to help her along the way. After finding out that they were all going to the same school, and that Maya would be in the same class as Kenzie, the school year didn't seem as scary. She still kept in touch with Riley and Farkle, but sadly, Lucas hadn't texted her at all since she'd left, which bummed her. She made lots of friends, but her closest were Caitlyn, Olivia and Kenzie.
During the school year, the 4 girls became closer, and worked together on many projects that their classes did together, but still nonetheless, Riley, Lucas and Farkle were her best friends. Much like Kenzie, Caitlyn, and Olivia were best friends.
Maya experienced many new things to her in Canada. She experienced recess, being put in an elementary school, instead of a middle school. She got to go on numerous field trips, and was even picked (alongside Kenzie, Caitlyn and Olivia, and 19 other kids) to go on an exchange trip to Alberta, which was 4 provinces away from the one she was in.
Then, came the end of the school year. Everyone was say their goodbyes, but the hardest was for Maya. She knew she would be leaving in a matter of days, and she'd become so close with the 3 girls. But it was time to go back home, to be with her un biological family, and watch them graduate. They'd be heading into High School. She knew she wanted to stay in touch with Kenzie, Olivia and Caitlyn though. And possibly have Riley, Farkle and Lucas meet them too.
They hugged and Maya got into the moving van. The girls waved goodbye as Katy and Maya rode off. She watched them wipe a tear from their eye. And head back inside. For sure, she would miss them, but not as much as she'd missed being at home with her best friends. But how much had changed since she'd left?
To be continued...
Hahaha yup! My best friends and I are included in this chapter. We'll be mentioned in the next chapter as well though. I thought it'd be fun for her to come to my hometown. But she's heading back to New York now! Stay tuned for the next chapter :)
Also, should I turn this into an actual book?and make the time she's in Canada longer? Possibly? I'll sleep on it. Keep you eyes out! It could be coming your way
- xoxo Kenzie
