Disclaimer: I'm also obsessed with HSM, so I might use some of their song names for titles of the chapters, and the one shot will be somewhat like the song, but not terribly. All credit goes to Disney for the song names.

Once again, onto the one shot!

Maya Penelope Hart sat on her couch, waiting for her mom to arrive home. It was 10:30pm, and her mother still had not gotten home yet.
Finally, at 11:15, Katy entered their small apartment that they called home.
All Maya could hear was sniffling and heavy breathing from her mom. She quickly got up, and went to go greet her mother.
"Maya, honey, we need to talk" Katy said as Maya gave her a hug. Instantaneously, Maya felt sick to her stomach. Her and her mother sat down on the little couch, as Katy turned to face her pale daughter.

"Okay, this isn't going to be easy, at all. Maya, we have to move to Canada for a year." She said, and Maya broke down in tears.
"But what about my friends?!" Maya said through tears.
"You'll be back in time for their graduation." Katy said, rubbing Maya's back.
"So I won't be able to graduate with Riley, Lucas and Farkle?" She said, frustrated. Silence filled the air. After what felt like forever, Maya spoke up again.
"Where are we moving to in Canada?" She questioned.
"Thats the thing, sweetie. I don't know yet. My boss just said that they're transferring us to somewhere in Canada for a year." Katy said, reassuringly.
"You can tell Lucas, Farkle and Riley, Cory and Topanga tomorrow." She said, sending Maya to bed.

The Next Day

Maya headed to school the next morning, not even bothering to pick Riley up at 7:00. She quickly texted her
"Can't make it to your place this morning, see you at school 😌 xoxo Peaches"
She boarded the Subway, dreading to tell the news that was soon to come.

When she got to school, Lucas was already there waiting. Farkle was about to arrive, and Riley was on her way.
"Hey Huckleberry" she said as she got to her locked, which happened to be a few lockers down from his.
"Hey Other One" he said, walking over to her.
She was just about to say something, when Farkle got to the school.
"Thank you, I am Farkle!" He yelled as a group of laughing students that were surrounding him, went away, and he met up with Maya and Lucas.
"Hey guys, where's Riley?" He asked, confused by her absence. She normally arrived with Maya.
"I couldn't make it to her place this morning, Topanga is probably dropping her off." Maya said, creating a silence to fill the three teens.
Suddenly, a cheery voice rang through the air.
"Peaches!" It yelled.
"Hey Riles" Maya said, laughing as her best friend came up to her with a pep to her step and that happy go lucky face that she always had on.
"Lucas, Farkle." She said, acknowledging their presence.
"Listen, I have something to tell you guys..." Maya said, her voice trailing off.
"What is it peaches?" Riley said, still happy, just a bit more concerned.
"My mom and I-" She started to say, but got cut off by the bell.
"Can this wait for later? I hear we're learning about Belgium 1831 today." Farkle said.
"I guess." Maya said, as they headed into History class with Mr. Matthews.

"I know, Farkle, you were expecting Belgium 1831 today, but it can be saved for another day. Today we are talking about our allies to the North, Canada." Farkle went to stand up, but saw Maya frozen in her chair. All she could think was: Did Cory know already? Did Riley know already? So many thoughts were racing through her mind, that she didn't even notice Lucas and Farkle trying to her attention.
"Ms. Hart, are you okay?" Cory asked Maya.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine Mr. Matthews..." She said, stuttering and trailing off at the end.
"It doesn't seem like it. As soon as I said Canada, you froze in your chair. Is something going on?" Mr. Matthews stated.
"Uh, yeah." She said, thinking 'Nows as good a time as any'
"Would you be willing to share it with the class?" He said as Maya stood up.
"My mom just got transferred to Canada for a year. I'm leaving at the start of summer break, the end of this week to be precise. I'll be back in time for your graduation, but I'll be graduating in Canada." Maya said, with the last shred of dignity she had, and sat back down. Riley looked at her, heartbroken. Lucas was still in shock, and Farkle looked as if his tiny little Farkle heart was broken into a million pieces.
"Was that what you were trying to tell us this morning?" Lucas asked, sitting back in his chair.
"Yup." She quietly said. For the rest of class, Maya was dead silent. Refusing to speak up or out on anything.

Moving Day

They had all their stuff packed, but it'd still felt like she'd forgotten something. The moving truck was being loaded, and the four best friends were saying their goodbyes.
"Don't forget me when you're in Kingston peaches." Riley said, hugging her best friend.
"How could I forget you?" She said, laughing.
"Huckleberry, Huckleberry. No matter how far away we are, you will still always be a Huckleberry." She said, with a Texan accent.
"I'll miss you Maya, but I won't miss all the names." He said, chuckling.
"There's always FaceTime and texting you know that, right Ranger Rick?" She said, giving him a quick hug.
She finally got to Farkle.
"I'll miss you Maya. Be sure to tell us all about what happens in Kingston." Farkle said, hugging her.
"I will, but it'll be posted on Instagram and Twitter, so keep your eyes out for those." She said, winking, laughing, and wiping a tear away from her eye.
She gave Cory and Topanga a hug, then turned to get in the truck, when Lucas suddenly called out.
"Wait!" He yelled, running over to her.
"What is it Huckleberry, I have to leave now." Maya said, getting impatient. The longer she stood here, the harder it would be for her to go.
"One last thing" he said, grabbing her face, and pulling her in for a quick, but passionate kiss.
Maya was in shock. She'd always liked Lucas, but she'd never admitted it to anyone.
"I like you Lucas." She said, finally freeing herself of her stress, hopping in the van, and her and her mother drove away, leaving Lucas, Riley and Farkle in a state of shock as they headed back to their homes.

Aweeee! I'm so proud of this chapter! But don't worry, there is still two more parts to come! Part two is while she's in Canada, and part three is where she comes home! Almost like Girl Meets Texas :) not quite though. Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
