Chapter Seventeen.

Soushi's POV

When I found him he was in the middle of a battle, and from the smell it was Naraku. Looking around I could see Inuyasha and his friends, one of them was about to be squished by a tentacle, so I dive bombed and got them out as it turns out it was Kagome and Shippo that I had rescued. Though no one could see us through the smoke I could hear her friends calling for her, "Kagome! Shippo!" By the sound of it I figured it was Inuyasha screaming for his woman when it cleared she sat on the ground behind me while I held off four or five tentacles with my fox fire. I didn't have to hold on much longer because Sesshoumaru came in from the other side of the battle ground and cut the flesh. Which disintegrated, smiling at him he touched my cheek.

Leaning into his hand I smiled, "hello my love, sorry I took so long." He shook his head lightly"no it's fine so long as your here." Though that didn't last long because a tentacle whipped out and aimed to strike Sesshoumaru, seeing as I saw it before him I moved into action, "Sesshomaru!!" I shouted before shoving him out of the way. Next think I know it's dark

Sesshomaru'POV

Having my mate back in my presence calmed my worried state and allowed me to focus a bit more but I was still worried about her getting hurt. And my worries proved correct when she shouted and pushed me out of the way from an attack. From my spot on the ground I looked for her and growled when I found her in the clutches of Naraku's tentacles. She was unconscious but breathing, "Naraku! Release her!" I shouted angry that he would dare touch what is mine. "Now, now Lord Seeshomaru, let's not get hasty, if you want her your going to have to come and get her." Then he sucked her into his body. Everyone gasped and called her name but I moved and sliced a hole into his body and entered and ran around looking for her.

After the miko destroyed the jewel, and Naraku along with it, we were all expelled from his body, I had found Soushi earlier and she was fine just knocked out, she was poisoned but saved by the power from her mother Kiseru Pipe. It had seemed that her mother had left some of her presence and healed her daughter. But now we were all sprawled out on the ground covered in vile demon goo, there were several groans of soreness, I sat up and looked around for Soushi, she lay a few feet away, the young fox demon was at her side checking her, standing I walked to them and knelt by her, picking her up I leaned her into my chest, she was breathing deeply, the fox smiled "yay! She's okay!" He jumped around then took off when someone called him. Picking her up I held her to my chest, groaning I leaned into her, "Sou, wake up." Her eyes squeezed closed for a moment before opening, the deep gold bore deep into mine as she smiled. I could feel a small smile cross my lips, but it vanished when she frowned at something over my shoulder, before I could move, the last of Naraku's power shot like a spear through my chest. Right through my heart.

Soushi's POV

When I was waking up, I could smell Sesshomaru next to me, the scent of my mate was like heaven, after a few hours in that stench called Naraku. Opening my eyes I focused in on him, he smiled back at me when I grinned up at him, I was so happy that it was over and that the beast was dead. But something caught my eye over his shoulder. It was the last of Naraku's power, it was speeding right towards us, before anyone could do anything it shot right into Sesshomaru, and vanished on a cackle of vile laughter, before finally dying off. Bolting up I caught him before he could fall, I didn't know what to do, cradling his head and shoulders in my arms I looked around for someone to help me, "Inuyasha, help me please do something! anything!" He ran over and knelt opposite me, he looked him over before sitting back and shaking his head, my heart broke, "what about his sword Tenseiga?" Kagome asked reaching for the sword a hand stopped me, it was Sesshomaru, looking him in the eyes I asked with tears falling, "it won't work, otherwise my father would have done it." He coughed up blood "no! Please, don't die, we're supposed to be married and be together forever!" He nodded weakly, "I-I know, and I'm so sorry I couldn't stay with you, and that I'm leaving you like your family did, but I will find you again, not in this life but in another. 'Every parting is a form of death, as every reunion is a type of heaven.'" He said softly pressing his hand to my cheek, my tears were coming down in rivers, my sobs became screams of pain and sorrow, and slowly his last word drove the last knife into my heart, "see you soon." The his eyes closed and his hand fell limp to his chest.
