My throat became dry. The sound of my heartbeat in my ears was deafening. The room began to spin slightly. I blinked a few times and swallowed the huge lump in my throat, trying to compose myself. My eyes stung as I blinked. Was I crying?
Alexander had a look of utter horror on his beautiful face. It was a look that I never wanted to see again. If I wasn't mistaken, he was speechless. It was then that Adrian pulled me from my thoughts.
"Ha! Look what you've done to the poor boy my dear Aria!" He laughed.
Alexander's eyes tore away from me and landed on Adrian. It was a look of disgust and anger. I was pretty sure they could hear how erratic my heart was beating.
Was Alexander one of them? A Vampire? This was a dream, it had to be.
"She's a beauty isn't she, Alex?" Adrian asked him, winking.
"Indeed, she is." Alex replied, shifting his gaze back over to me.
A cold shiver slid down my back as Adrian let go of my arm, of me "If you would excuse me, I must attend to my other guests."
Alex nodded politely at him. I said nothing. What could I say?
Adrian turned and pressed his lips to my ear "I will be back for you soon."
I bit my lip nervously as Adrian walked away, leaving Alexander and myself alone.

For a few moments we stood there, staring at each other in silence. So many thoughts whizzed through my mind, my brain was in overload. Vampires exist. My best friend is one of them and I'm stuck in a mansion full of them. What am I going to do?
There was no where to run. They would be able to catch me before I could even place my hand on the door handle. I couldn't escape. There was no hope. I was imprisoned here and I wasn't getting out. My heart felt as though it had dropped into my stomach. I began to feel the room swirling in all different directions as my legs began to feel like jelly.
After what felt like forever, words escaped Alexander's lips.
"Would you please accompany me outside?" He requested "I feel I owe you an explanation"
Part of me was telling me to go with him, to listen to the truth. Yet, another part of me was screaming not to move, not to trust him. A dull ache spread across my forehead. This was becoming too much for me to handle.
I slowly nodded "Fine."
He held his arm out for me to take. I looked from his arm back up to his gorgeous face. He gave me slight awkward smile. My arm slid through his as my eyes darted to the floor. His arm was loose around mine, being careful not to crush it.
As we walked past a few of the other guests, other vampires, I tried my hardest not to trip as the dizziness subsided. This was it. This was the truth.

We passed through a set of glass double doors and stopped outside. The garden was huge. A group of trees were scattered around the bottom of the garden while the green grass was overflowed with small white and blue flowers. We stood on a stone patio with the moonlight gleaming down on us. He led me over to the magnificent water fountain a few feet away. The fountain was made of stone with an angel in the centre of it, holding a cup in its hands, gazing up at the stars with its wings stretched out behind its back.
