Song choice for chapter: Watch You Crawl by Red

For the past hour or so I paced around my room. Adrian's friends would be arriving shortly and I knew why they were coming. My stomach was in knots, I couldn't go through that again. An image of Brad kissing my palm and Adrian kissing my cheek flashed through my mind making me stop dead in my tracks. I couldn't let them hurt me again, I wouldn't. I would not be made their meal or their play thing. This had to end.

I walked over to the window and gazed out. I hadn't been here long but it felt like an eternity. My hand slowly snaked up and rested on my chest where the necklace my mother gave me use to hang. The glass of the window was cool against my skin as I leaned my head against it. I could still remember that day like it was yesterday, the day she was taken from me.

The rain was thrashing down from the heavens. It bounced off the road and off the windscreen of our car making it almost impossible to see. The window wipers darted from left to right quickly across the screen pushing the rain off of the glass. My mother had the radio on but she wasn't paying attention to it. The music playing through the speakers of the car crackled slightly when the signal was lost.

I sat beside her in the front passengers seat wondering where we were going and why she was driving so fast.  She always stuck to the speed limits, never going as fast as she was now. My gaze shifted to the back seat where two bags lay. All I knew was that we were going to one of our relatives houses. I shifted in my seat, facing the front again. My eyes rolled to the left looking at my mother. She looked tense, there was something on her mind something she wasn't telling me. Her usually beautiful smooth dark hair was on end at some places like she hadn't had the time to brush it. There was a look in her eyes that I'd never seen before, it was a look of worry and fear.

"Is everything alright, Mom?" I asked her.

At first she didn't answer I didn't think she was going to but a few moments later she did.

"Yes, everything is fine," She said "I just think it would be good for us to get away for a few days. Kinda like a vacation."

"And you thought it would be a good idea to head out on our vacation at eleven at night during one of the worst storms we've had in years?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The quicker we get there the better, traffic can be terrible in the mornings" She said giving me a quick look and smiling "You should get some sleep, we'll be there soon."

Her smile made me relax slightly. I returned the favor and smiled back at her.

"No it's alright mom, I'd rather stay up with you." I said to her.

For the next hour or so we sat there talking and laughing about things that had happened in the past, memories that would stay with us forever. It was good to see her laughing, to see her happy. I leaned my head back on the headrest of my seat, gazing out of my window.

"You're right Mom, a few days away sounds great." I said.

"The best part is, is that we can do mother-daughter things, anything you want." She replied.

I turned my head to look at her again "I love you Mom."

She looked over to me and smiled her heartwarming smile "I love you too Aria."

The car then lit up with the brightest white light I'd ever seen. My head snapped to the front of the car and to my horror a car was heading straight for us. Everything at that moment slowed down. My mother's foot slammed onto the brake causing us to jerk forward but it was too late. The first thing I heard was metal crunching into metal. The sound was horrendous. The car wasn't slowing down one bit. The oncoming car had hit my mom's side and when the cars collided the force pulled me forward, my seat belt dug into my chest and then it snapped under the pressure. I flew forward and my head smacked against the dashboard. Pain spread immediately across my head, I fought to stay conscious but it was too difficult. Sleep was welcoming me and I couldn't resist it any longer.
