Song choice for chapter: Cold by Static X
Paige and I sat in the back of a taxi that we'd managed to flag down. Paige was going on about how great tonight is going to be and how excited she is. If I'm honest, I'm not looking forward to it. Like I told her earlier, I really don't have the money to be spending on alcohol. You only live once though, right?
I stared out the window, watching as cars and a few people whizzed past at speed. My stomach was in knots. I was so nervous. I hadn't been out to a club in a good while, not after what happened to my Mother, not after the accident. Shifting uncomfortably in my seat, I moved my gaze over to Paige.
She had it easy. She had the looks and the personality to match. She was a full package. Her life was perfect. Her Mother and Father were insanely rich and gave her everything she asked for. Paige told me she couldn't do what she wanted. Her parents wanted her to be a lady and to marry some big shot from a well respected company.
She didn't want that so she rebelled and ran away from home. That's how she ended up stuck in the diner working horrible hours for little money, just like me.
"You are going to love it in here. I just know it." She said with a massive grin on her face.
"I guess we'll find out." I replied, smiling back at her slightly.
Ten minutes later, Paige paid for the taxi after it stopped. She stepped out the car easily. As for me, I awkwardly stepped out of the car, almost tripping over my own feet. Stupid high heels! I cursed. Paige checked out her appearance in a shop window, fixing parts of her hair.
"Okay, lets go." She said, turning to me.
She linked her arm through mine as we began to walk down the street. As we drew closer and closer to the end of the street, I could hear the muffled sound of music. We stopped at an alley way. I looked down spotting a huge red neon sign which said 'Eternity'. I bit my lip slightly. Why was it down a creepy alley way?
Paige started pulling me down the alley way towards Eternity. The alley smelled horrible, the bins stunk of rotten food. I could feel myself beginning to gag slightly. Hopefully it was a lot nicer in Eternity that it was out here.
We stopped at the double doors underneath the neon sign. Two bouncers stood there, guarding the entrance. They towered over us which made me start to feel uneasy. I frowned when I noticed there was something different about their eyes. The part of their eyes that should have been white were red. The black color of their irises spread into the red like little veins. They were wearing contacts maybe?
If they were, they were weird contact lenses. I shrugged it off thinking it was just part of their uniform or something.
"Name." One of them demanded.
"Paige." She answered, the smile still on her face. What was up with her?
They then turned their attention to me, waiting for me to answer.
"A-Aria." I stuttered out.
They stood there for a moment, not moving or saying anything. Both of them then stepped aside, pulling open the double doors as they did. Vibrations from the music tingled underneath my feet. Paige grabbed my hand and dragged me inside.
We walked down a set of stairs. At the bottom we came face to face with the club. Multi-coloured lights washed over the crowds of people dancing with each other. Cigarette smoke and sweat mixed together in the air. I was starting to become really hot already.
Walking up to the bar, we squeezed past the dancing people on the dance floor. Paige ordered a drink for us. I didn't even know what she'd just ordered. The bartender made up the two drinks and placed the glasses filled with purple liquid onto the counter. Paige handed him money and turned to me.
