The sun was rising up to the sky and the last of the Darkness wielders grinned their teeth and dissolved into the morning breeze.
It had been three and a half hours since the funeral, Sepharine had left an hour before to go "take care of something" but asked Alexandra and Carter to meet her at Kingsmouth's Coffee Corner.
"Wait, you're Alexandra right?" someone behind her asked her.
"Yes," she sighed, knowing the question that was always asked, was on it's way.
"Why don't you have to hide with the shadows? I thought you were half-dark?"
Carter laughed and gave her a look that said "Be nice"
She turned around to give him a warning but when the boy smiled and looked her right in the eye she gasped for air and went in immediate shock, turned around and walked faster than the speed of light around the corner with Carter following.
"Okay, what the hell Alex?" He asked when they reached their destination.
"Didn't you see his eyes? It's the guy from before." She said quickly looking around nervously as if she was scared he might have followed her.
"Yeah, everyone saw them, they were blue, so what?"
"Blue.." She shivered at the thought.
"What's wrong, you seem really paranoid.." He asked holding his hand against her skin.
"I'm fine!" she said angrily pushing his hand away.
"Okay, okay, fine."
The smell of sweat was in the air, some were biting their nails and others were clicking them against the table. "Stress," Carter said and he shrugged.
They walked on to the table which distinguished them from other people at the diner.
As soon as they sat down a young skinny boy in his uniform with blue eyes and black hair which was hidden under in a cap, came over to their table smiling.
"Hi, what m..m..may I g..g..get you today?" He stuttered.
"I would like a cappuccino." Alexandra said.
"And.. I would like a nice black coffee." Carter said.
"Su..Su..Sure.. Would you like a pie..pie..piece of apple pie too?"
"No, thank you." Alexandra said while Carter was shaking his head.
"Ok..Ok..Okay.. I'll be right back with your order." The boy said and he
"Well that was interesting," Carter said while he had a mocking smile on his face.
"He was just nervous, it happens, remember when you first started to like me?"
"What about it?" Carter asked while intensively playing with one of the straws that were put together next to the salt, sugar, pepper and paper napkins.
"When you tried to kiss me and I didn't notice so when Ruthy called me I turned around and you kissed my ear so when I asked you why you did that, you started to stutter?" She said smiling.
"That was completely something different." He said laughing.
The boy brought their coffees over and they thanked him by giving him a simple nod, he walked on happily as if he just did the most amazing thing in the world. Alexandra wondered what it is about mortals, always feeling so happy to do the smallest thing for others.
"Carter.. I'm so sorry for just now." She said with deep regret.
"It's okay," he said while planting a kiss on her forehead.
