This is back in Olivia's POV!

Chapter 9

"Blake, can you introduce us?" I asked carefully, peering at the scrawny girl who showed up behind him. She was looking at me mischievously, as if she knew something that I didn't.

Blake glanced over his shoulder.

"Yes, big brother, do introduce us," Blake's sister stared at me, looking me up and down, with a smirk on her too-glossy lips. She tossed her dark hair over her shoulder saucily. Typical pre-teen.

Blake gave her a reproving look before responding.

"Nicole, this is our new singer, Olivia," he said, nodding at me. I clasped my hands together over my lap and gave the twelve year old a small smile.

"So you're a good singer? I can't sing for my life," Nicole threw me a small lopsided grin, but it showed a hint of slyness.

"Eh," I shrugged, looking at the glossy wooden floor. From the corner of my eye, I saw Blake stand up from the beige armchair. Leaning on the back of the armchair, he rolled his icy eyes with an amused expression aimed towards me.

"Don't listen to her. She's great. Wait until karaoke night," Blake addressed his sister, although he gave me a small wink.

Sinking into the couch a little more, I crossed my arms and attempted to glare at him, but I couldn't help but turn up the corners of my mouth a little. I turned to Nicole, who was combing her hair with her fingers.

"Don't listen to Blake. Really," I told her, staring at the pop star pointedly. He stared back at me.

"You still call him Blake?" Nicole let out a snort as she sat in the armchair that her brother abandoned. I scrunched my eyebrows together.

"Yeah... why wouldn't I?" I asked, peering at Blake. He was still standing in the same spot, but his body was tense. He was staring at his sister through steely eyes. His chiseled features were hard with an expression I couldn't recognize. I lowered my gaze from his face to my washed out jersey. That whole thing was making me really confused, so I did what I did best. Ignore it.

In response, Nicole glared at him while tossing her dark locks over her shoulder.

"Well..." Nicole was cut off by the chime of the doorbell.

"I'll get it!" Blake exploded from his tense position, his features washed with relief. He jogged to the foyer, out of sight. I heard the click of a lock and a voice I didn't recognize.

I gave Nicole a questioning look, which she returned with a small smirk before taking out a bedazzled iPhone. Oh great.

"Olivia is in the game room," I heard Blake's voice from the foyer. Soon enough, he was leading a guy who I never saw before to where Nicole and I sat. He was light-haired which contrasted a lot with Blake's and was a bit taller.

"Hey Zach!" Nicole exclaimed to the new guy, jumping out of her seat and throwing her arms around his neck.

"Hey Nicki. Long time, no see," Zach spoke with a calm, sarcastic tone. He patted Nicole on the back of her pink shirt. Around his wrist was a single chain bracelet.

Breaking away from Nicole, his hazel eyes glazed to me, resting on my New York Rangers jersey. I really hoped his gaze wasn't on my chest. Subconsciously, I pulled at the blue material.

"New York Rangers, huh? I'm more of a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. You know, a team that actually has its act together," Zach told me, a smirk tugging at his lips. I narrowed my eyes.
