"Hello. Miss Evans?" Said the person on the other line, obviously an older man. He sounded to be around fifty.
"Yes....? Who is this?"I tapped my foot along the tile floor underneath me, waiting for their response.
"This is Doctor Carter from Heritage Hospital. Your younger brother, Noah, is a patient here." Well how dumb did this guy think I was?
"Yeah, I am very aware that my brother is a patient at your hospital, thank you very much sir. Now, what can I do for you?" I asked casually. It was probably just another call to make sure I had given Noah all his medicine he needed while he was home a few days ago.
"Well Miss Evans, we had a slight mixup of medication at the hospital today and -"
I cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
"You had what!? A mixup of medication!? Where is Noah? Is he okay?! Did you give him the wrong medicine?!"
"Please, please. Let me finish Miss." he sighed quietly on the other end as i somehow found my way over to the dinning room table and pulled out a chair to sit down. "It was a complete accident but some way our medication got delivered to the wrong patients and your bother Noah was given a medicine that is never supposed to be given to someone of his age. Now please Miss Evans, stay calm. Everything is okay. He will be perfectly fine as of what we know now."
"What the hell is this?! You call me at eleven o'clock at night and tell me that your damn hospital gave my cancer sicken brother the wrong medication and you want me to stay calm!?" You have got to be kidding me! Noah was not fine, that much I knew. How could they make a mistake that big?
I quickly fumbled my fingers to hang up before the doctor could say another word and I slammed the phone down on the table.
I couldn't even think. The only think I knew was that I needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Sooner than that if I could.
Just then, Farrah walked into the room as I put my head down on the table to take a deep breath.
"Sophie! What the hell was all that yelling about?" She asked. I ignored her completely and got up from the chair. I walked over into the hallway that lead to the front door and grabbed my bad that was on the floor in the corner.
"Farrah, I have to go to the hospital right now." I didn't bother to look at her as I made my way out the door.
"But...Soph! Sophie! What's going on!? Is Noah all right? Sophie!!" By the time she called out my name for the last time I was already in my car and backing out the driveway. I literally couldn't think of anything except that I needed to be at that hospital to make sure my brother was okay. This stupid hospital was not about to tell me to stay calm this time.
I quickly looked into my review mirror and saw that Farrah has shut the door of my house and gone back inside. I'll just call her later and tell her it's okay for her to go back to her own house.

I pulled into the hospital parking lot about fifteen minutes later. On the way I almost got a speeding ticket but lucky for me the cop was already busy with another guy he had pulled over.
I jumped out of my car, leaving my bag behind and honestly I didn't even care.
I ran with my head down, not wanting to see that ugly hospital as I approached it. Even with how busy my eyes were at staring at the ground, I couldn't even pay attention to the black pavement. It was all a blur. I wouldn't have even known the ground was black If i hadn't have been her so many times before. It could have been rainbow colored for all I care.
