I found myself laughing as I walked through the front doors of Heritage Hospital with Luke by my side. He had a huge grin on his face which seemed to almost never leave. How we actually started to talk and laugh on the walk back from out little run in was beyond me. I honestly couldn't even remember why I was upset with him about fifteen minutes ago because in those fifteen minutes he managed to make me laugh and smile - something I only did around one other person. Noah.
Luke really was sincere. On that short walk back he told me about his older sister who was just two years older than he was. He explained that she lived in California now ever since she graduated high school. He told me about how he planned on going to college this coming fall in California for a football scholarship he got from USC.
"If it weren't for my natural ability to throw a ball across the field and charming the girls, my grades probably would have landed me at a junior college." He said, half jokingly as we walked past the waiting area and stopped in front of Allison's desk. I didn't see her so she must be running around the hallways.
"Oh well those skills must come in handy all the time then." I laughed, glancing around behind the front desk.
Still with that grin on his face, he leaned to the side and rested his right arm against the high desk. "More than you'd think."
I ran my hands softly through my hair and smiled at him. He obviously knew how good looking he was and he was very aware of the effect he had on girls. Any girl in their right mind would love to stare at him. Of course I'm not saying looks are all that matters but lets just say Luke will never have to worry about being judged negatively on his looks.
He had that light brown hair that looked almost bronze when the sun hit it right. I've noticed it's just in a disarray on top of his head as if everyday he just wakes up and runs his hands quickly through his hair and he's ready to go. When your eyes finally leave his gorgeous hair your left to study his blue eyes that, honest to God, could almost blind someone. They were so rare. I've never seen anyone with eyes so blue before. I was wrong about them shinning just because of the florescent lights because this whole time today, they stayed the same - crystal blue with a small shimmer right at the center.
Below his eyes there were his perfect cheekbones then came his jaw. Naturally your eyes would wander to that small but very visible scar he had on the right side of his face just below his jaw bone and close to his ear. It still had me curious but I'm sure it was from something minor like falling off his bike as a kid, but putting the scar aside his jaw was breathtaking. I know what you're thinking. How can a simple jaw be breathtaking? Well his jaw was just so sharp and distinct. I was like abs but on a face. If you know what I mean.
His face was pure perfection and in my opinion, no one else could even - "Sophie? Umm, you okay?" A voice said, interrupting my thought process.
"Huh? Yeah, what?" I slowly blinked then I saw that it was Luke whose voice I had heard.
He laughed a low, husky laugh. "You seemed a little...distracted for a minute there."
Damn it! I was so caught up in, well Luke, that I forgot to even talk to him.
He just stood here with a smirk on his face. Her knew exactly why I was so distracted. There he goes again with his little charming ways. For a nice guy he sure was full of himself at times. He can't help what he looks like but he sure as hell can help how he acts. All his cockiness did was make me even more attracted to him.
I playfully rolled my eyes. "I need to go see my brother now so feel free to do that," I motioned my arms around his charming face. "to someone else." And with that I ruffled his hair with my hand and walked past him with my own smirk on my face.
