||Chapter Twenty-two||

I chewed the end of my pencil as I answered the final question on the Student Of The Year test. As I waited for the teachers to collect my paper I glanced at Shanaya. The was pulling back a strand of hair, her fingers going over the script. "TIME' s UP STUDENTS!!" the Dean boomed. As I exited the auditorium, I found Rohan who nudged my shoulder. "Come-on let's go! " he said grinning. We walked ahead to our gang's hangout. "Guys how was the exam?" Shruthi exclaimed. "Oh God don't get me started!" Rohan stated, his arms snaking around Shanaya's waist. I tried to ignore them. "At least we don't have classes today. Hey why don't we organise something Rohan?" Tanya stated,pushing herself towards him. "Ugh- party at your house then?" Rohan asked. Everyone seemed to be able to go. "Um guys I can't go. " I muttered, my cheeks warming. "Why?" Tanya said, flirtingly. "Why do you care?" Rohan interjected,he knew I was spending time with my Dadi. I smiled at him gratefully. There was a reason he's my best mate.

Tanya's party was pretty shitty if I had to be honest. Shanaya hadn't decided to turn up and for that I was grateful. Sunaina stood at the door in her faded jeans, ready to leave. "Tanya I'll catch you later" I said, bidding her goodbye. Sunaina looked at me confused. I never left parties early. As soon as we exited the house I pulled her by the wrist into a small alleyway. "Rohan!" Sunaina exclaimed. "please" I said edging closer to her. "Rohan!" she said again,her tone warning. I put my hands on her waist, she was so close. "Rohan,I can't. We can't do that" she mumbled. I looked at her weary expression."Who said anything about that?" I said,raising an eyebrow. Sunaina blushed and I grinned down at her. God she's beautiful when she blushes. I reluctantly take my hands off her waist. " I can't be with you behind Shanaya's back. She is my best friend" she said, her warm chocolate brown eyes meeting mine. "She's mine too, you know. Our dating is just for popularity, she knows that as much as I do. She'll always be my best friend." I said. I've never spoken those words aloud, not even to Abhi, who I trusted the most. It seemed I trusted Sunaina enough. "I never knew" she said. "Don't worry. I'll tell Shanaya" I said firmly. Sunaina reached up, and kissed my cheek. "Goodnight" she mumbled,smiling, leaving me smiling like a dummy. By the time I drove home I could still feel her lips on my cheek.
