a little a/n before we start: i wrote this book just after i turned twelve. the start is kinda bad, but as the book progresses it gets clearer. there is a sequel - "broken", which you can find on my profile !! :) xx

"She's not ready. I don't think she'll ever be!"
"You have to believe. I know Amy has been through a tough time recently, but when the right people come along-"
"If"
"When the right people come along, she'll open up. Trust me."

Silent tears trace their way down my face as I hear what they're saying about me. Leanne has always been so supportive of me, ever since my parents died, and now she's saying I'll never be ready for adoption?
And don't even get me started on Dr. Rowlands. He seems to be so optimistic that I'll be opening up in the next hour. I should be grateful that he believes in me, but I'm not fooled. I know that he is so impatient for me to speak again, so he can finally retire.

Slowly, I head back up the stairs, my bare feet making no sound against the soft padded stairs. I hate this place, I think. I just want to be adopted. But no one wants me. My parents did, but they're gone now.
I push open the door of my room, and shut it behind me. I guess another sleepless night is ahead for me. Not that I'm complaining.

Collapsing on my bed, I reach out for my YouTube pillow, my 13th birthday present from Tom, my cousin. Then I tick off my mental list.

- Phone? Check.
- Blanket? Check.
- Door shut? Check.
- YouTube open? Check.

I open up the notifications screen, and realise that danisnotonfire has uploaded a new video. With Phil! The screen lights up and I am back in the only place that I feel comfortable in.
  "Hello internet!"

Dan and Phil are the only people who understand me. When my parents passed away in a car crash six months ago, I didn't talk to anyone, apart from my internet friend Tabby. @TabsThePhangirl on Twitter. Our DM thread is so long, and we still DM everyday. She told me to watch their videos, and I instantly fell in love. Dan's hilarious but true videos, and Phil's happy-go-lucky way of life. Oh, and by the way, Phan is totally real.

I hear Leanne creaking up the stairs. I mute my phone, but load up Tumblr. Sighing, I notice a fan with Dan in London. She's so lucky.
I shut down my iPhone, and pull the duvet around me, and wait for the suffocation of sleep.
