*****************************

I hear whispers in my ear. They all sound worried. Anxious. I tried opening my eyes but that doesn't work. Suddenly, I get a sharp pain through my head and rub it as I groan.

"She's awake." Someone says softly.

"Finally." Another voice mutters.

I slowly opened my eyes and find everybody else's- Sam, Henry, Elliot, Robert, and even the King-staring right back. I notice I'm on my bed and in my room.

"W-What happened?" I asked as I sat up.

They all looked at each other, wondering who should speak first.

Finally, Henry spoke up, "So, when I heard you screamed, I ran to your room but you weren't there. I ran into Sam and she told me you were in her room. But when I found you, you were glowing. So this meant that either your powers are here or you just had another close call."

"B-But today isn't my birthday, it's still next week. Right?"

"You've been unconscious for five days Joy." Sam stated.

I looked everyone's concerned expressions, waiting for me to say something, but I didn't know what to say.

Then the King clapped his hands, which made everyone jump and said, "No need to worry, I have already set up a special ball and invited everyone for Joy's birthday. This shall be spectacular." And with that, he left the room.

"Well I'm going to head out...." Robert trailed off.

"Yeah, me too." Elliot agreed.

This left me, Sam, and Henry not knowing what to do. Or say.

After a few moments of silence, Henry cleared his throat and walked over to my bedside. He was down on one knee and digging in his pocket.

"W-What are yo-" I stammered.

"Happy birthday." He showed me a long, thin black box. I took it from his hands and opened it. My eyes lit up when I saw the piece of jewelry. It was a ruby necklace, wrapped around by a silver texture. I ran my hands through it, stunned by it's beauty.

"It's gorgeous." I smiled at him then gave him a hug. "Thank you, for everything."

"You're welcome." He hugged me back. We broke apart and I looked into his dark blue eyes.

He stood up and started walking towards the door. "Well it's time for you to get ready for your ball."

"Wait-" I ran up to him, despite the weakness in my legs, and gave a kiss on the check, "thanks, again."

He smiled, then nodded.

I closed my door and ran my hand through my hair.

"Well, well, well....that was interesting."

I screamed and jumped at the same time and saw Sam standing on the other side of my room, with an amused look.

"Y-You saw everything?" I asked then slapped my forehead. Of course she saw everything.

"Mhm...and it's obvious that there is something going on between you two." She narrow her eyes playfully and pointed between the door and I.

"No there isn't. We are just friends."

"Yes, there is something going on and don't deny. I don't see any boy giving out necklaces like that to their 'friends'."

"It's a birthday gift."
