So it took a while to get this part done because I started online health which includes some non online CPR classes, and of course to my utter disbelief this guy I've had a crush on for a while now walks in late. There are only two guys and five girls in my CPR class. I guess you can tell whom I wanted to partner with... XD Anyway, moving on from that I was busy and I'm sorta of a procastinator... Before writing this I was just going to end it here, but I decided to break it up into one more part because I might write an alternate tragic ending. I will post the original up next, but if anyone would like me to post the alternate ending then just comment telling me so. :) So you know thw drill. Please comment and vote telling me what you think and all that good stuff. =D

Part 8

Sophyella led the way as we hurried along empty hallways and rooms. Dana was after her and I was the last one behind. The place was completely dark and empty, every room was at our disposal. At first Sophyella seemed to know what she was doing, but after a while she looked a little confused and as time went by she looked lost. We  stopped along a hallway with several choices while Sophyella closed her eyes and concentrated to remember. A few minutes of silence later her face brightly lit up and she turned towards the hallway in the left.

We followed her quietly until there was only a door at the of a room. I stopped suddenly in the back of the room not going any further. Sophyella didn't notice and kept walking to the door. The door was tall, wide and made of metal. It looked airtight and secure. There was a number pad in the side of the door. Sophyella walked up to it with Dana behind her watching as she typed the code in. There was an echoing silence as we waited for something to happen, and then it did.

I smelled the fresh air before the rustling breeze of cool air hit my skin. There had been a silent click as the door and opened and a hushing sound as the room was filled with fresh air. It was then that Sophyella seemed to realize I wasn't next to her and looked around the room before finding me in the far corner of the room among the shadows.  She saw my expression and her skeletal face filled with worry, she walked up to me.

"Andy... What is wrong? She said softly looking worried. Her bright green eyes which were the only normal features in her cadaverous and skeletal face met mine. She understood right away what was wrong and held out her hand to mine and put head on my chest as she hugged me. Her tight hold on me contradicted how delicate and weak she looked. I put other arm around her tiny waist and hugged her back.

"Sophi..." I tried to explain but the words wouldn't come. She sighed before softly whispering to me.

"Andy... If you stay behind you won't be able to help them. You will just go back to being their prisoner again. If we can get out of here first we can do something about it." I thought about that. I knew what she was saying was right, but I hated listening to reason. I didn't want to get out of here while they were all locked up having to go through the same thing we were or worse. But I knew she was right. I hugged her tighter putting both of my arms around her, I stroked her back with one hand feeling how soft the feathers on her wings were. She looked up at me suddenly and stretched up on her toes and kissed me lightly. I looked into her bright eyes once again and leaned in slowly, when my lips touched hers she closed her eyes. I kissed her soft, delicate mouth slowly and as our lips parted it became less gentle and more passionate. We withdrew apart after a few seconds and she looked at me and smiled with happiness and confidence. We held hands and walked up to the door where Dana waited patiently.

"Where are we going?" I asked as we stood before the door which was partly open.

"Somewhere away from here. Maybe we can try to find your mother, Renee..." Sophyella started, but then faded out.

"What about your mother? Are you going to go look for her?" Dana asked the question I had been thinking about asking for a while now. Sophyella no longer smiled and turned even paler if it was possible and looked very fragile and alone.

"I don't know where I'll go." She said barely above a whisper turning away and letting go of my hand. "I was born here. Shaira is my mother, I'm sure of it. She is the woman from my dreams and memories that smiled at me."She paused and then turned to look at us again. "As soon as I saw her I knew it and I just couldn't stand to stay here anymore with a woman who eternally condemned me." We all stayed silent a for a while before Dana turned to the door and swung it open all the way.

As the air hit me once more I felt almost free, it was so close. Sophyella and I walked up to the opening. All I saw was the sky above and below. This place had been apparently built on top of a mountain and the door opened up to a cliff, down was the ocean and up was the sky. In the horizon I could see a faint line of light as dawn approached. Sophyella turned to look at me and mutual understanding crossed our eyes.

"There is only way." Dana said with a wide smile while looking at me with her dark green eyes. "We'll have to jump." I  nodded in agreement, I looked out once more and didn't see any sign of land close by. I was a little skeptical because I had never done this before and things could go very wrong.

Dana backed away from the door. I turned to face her, she was smiling sadly with a set resolution.

            "Aren't you coming?" I asked.

"No, I can't." She looked longingly at the sky behind me which was becoming a lighter and lighter blue.

"But it's almost dawn, there will be no second chances.”

“I know, and I can’t go. I had my mind made up before we got this far.” She said in a resolute tone and backing up farther. Sophyella gave Dana a last look and smiled. Then without any warning of any sort she jumped from the cliff. My heart almost leaped out of my chest as I ran up to the door and looked down to see Sophyella falling and falling down towards the rocky ocean surface.

I yelled her name in vain, but she kept falling. At one point I could her struggling to get her wings open and trying to stabilize herself, and as she struggled I couldn’t believe but think that I might forever lose her and hope.
