Peresonally, I get very annoyed and confused when I look at something like, "Chapter One - Part One," and, due to my asking my other writing friends, I know I'm not the only one. Sp, I will state it right here: please, do not divide chapters into parts.
The reason to dividing things as mentioned above is redundant at best. You've already split your book into chapters, right? If so, why do you need to divide the chapters? If the two parts don't fit seamlessly together, you can simply separate them into two scenes or even two different chapters. To be frank, separating things into two parts or two chapters makes no real difference to the writing itself, so why not do so? I can't think of any reason.
And don't go around saying that you're doing that just because you want to update your story. Sorry, but your argument is invalid. First of all, that means you're writing for your readers, not yourself (which I'll touch on later). Additionally, when you upload a chapter, readers expect consistancy to some extent. If you've had ten-page chapters up until now, and you suddenly just uploaded one page to keep with some deadline you set for yourself, I would be an annoyed reader, getting all excited that a chapter was posted in a story I bother to follow then finding out that it's less than 500 words. It would be heartbreaking. While you shouldn't write for your readers, you should write without blantant ignorance to them.
I often had thoughts when I wrote at a younger age that if I were to post something all at once, it would be too much. I was wrong. Especially with Wattpad's feature where you get to flip pages, it surely can't bother the reader too much that your chapter is five pages. Besides, how long is the chapter, really? I strive to make my chapters, when I write in chapters, over 2000 words. About 500 words or so words over that is what I would claim to be an average length. That's ten normal-sized pages. Take a peek in your favourite book and see what I mean. Sometimes, chapters are even longer. Your chapter is long means nothing. Besides, are you writing for an eBook or a concrete novel? Is your preferable audience even supposed to be reading on a screen?
Finally, I resort to my usual reason for things like this: writing chapters in that fashion is unprofessional. Or, it so it is in my opinion. Agree or not, I think image stands for something.
Now, all you guys have to do is wait indefinitely for part two! (It's seriously not happening though.)
