It’s already December and the school is getting ready for testing and holidays. Everyone is getting ready for the holidays, especially Wataru. He is trying his best to get the best gift Minami could ever have. Ryusei stayed over at Minami’s house and studied together.
“Hey, don’t you want to see the Christmas tree with me on Christmas Eve?” Minami asked.
“What?”
“Yea, it could be our nightly date.”
“Um, okay I guess.”
“If we are lucky, we can find mistletoe.”
Ryusei blushed red, “W-w-what are you talking about! I thought I was your… you know…“boyfriend”?!”
“Oh, I forgot. Sorry,” Minami giggled. “But we can still be together right?”
“Sure.”
<At school, a week before the break>
There is testing going on and seems like people are struggling and people doing the test calmly. The time has rung and once the test as over, Minami went to hang out with her friends this time.
“So Minami how was the test?”
“It was easy. Good thing I studied with Ryusei.”
“Awe, you’re lucky. I struggled a bit. I hoped I passed.”
“I sure you will.” Minami smiled.
“So Ryusei, how do you feel in a regular normal school like this one?” Wataru asked.
“It seems fun. I never knew being in a normal school feels so… you know… normal. I mean all the testing and meeting new people, and getting to eat lunch outside; it’s completely different.”
“Oh yea, the test, how did you do?”
“I did pretty well actually. Good thing I studied with Minami.”
“I told you, don’t call her by her first name; it’s Kei! Wait…what did you do with Kei-san?”
“Studied with her, why?”
“What kind of relationship do you have with Kei?”
Ryusei paused for a bit. “Nothing, nothing at all, all she did was just to make me feel how a normal life is like, that’s all.”
Wataru glared at him for a moment, “I see, okay then. Listen to me Ryusei; I’m your friend, and I’m glad I’m your friend, but I’ll be watching you. You know I like Kei-san and if I see you lay a finger on her then you’re toast. You got that?”
“Yes… I do.”
Minami ran towards them, “Ryusei! I got good news!”
“Ryusei?” Wataru said in shock.
“Oh, Mitsuki is here as well. Anyway Ryusei, want to come to an amusement park with me?”
“Amusement park?!” Wataru said on shock again.
“Sure, I don’t mind. Who is coming?”
“Oh just us…”
“I’M COMING!” Wataru shouted. “RYUSEI HAS BEEN INVITED TO AN AMUSEMENT PARK, AND NOT ME? ‘Oh just us…’ YOU SAY. I’M RIGHT HERE STANDING NEXT TO YOU GUYS AND I’M NOT BEING INVITED TO AN AMUSEMENT PARK!”
“Calm down Mitsuki, I wasn’t done with my sentence. I meant just us and my friends. I was even about to invite you.”
“Oh, I’m sorry for my rude manner. Please forgive me.”
“It’s okay. It’s on the 23rd. See you at 8am,” Minami smiled.
<On the 23rd>
Minami’s three friends arrived, then it was Wataru, next was Ryusei, and last, Minami. Minami’s friends surrounded Ryusei, and he felt very uncomfortable. Wataru stayed beside Minami and tried his best to hide his present. They tried games, go on roller coasters, rides, ate food, etc. At the end of the day, “Kei, can you come with me to get Ice Cream?” Wataru asked.
“Yea sure,”
Wataru and Minami were walking, “Um Mitsuki, isn’t the ice cream stand that way?”
Wataru turned serious yet nervous, “H-h-here!” as he took out the present.
“Oh, Mitsuki…”
“Wataru… Please call me Wataru. And if it’s okay with you, can I call you Minami?”
“Sure, but why?”
“I envy Ruka, he is also hanging around with you, and why I envy him you think? It’s because I like you!”
Minami was in shocked and can’t reply, but instead she fainted. “Minami… Minami!” She was taken back home and the 3 girls went home first. Wataru and Ryusei stayed.
“Wataru, I think you should go ahead…”
“No, I’m staying here. Why is it that you only have to stay beside her?”
Ryusei was about to answer. Just when he was about to, Minami woke up, “Ryusei… I’ll explain…”
“But your fever…”
“It’s okay. We got to let someone know.” Minami turned to Wataru, “Wataru… You might be wondering why Ryusei has been staying by my side all the time. It’s true that I’m helping him know how the normal life is like, but I told him that in exchange, he has to be my “boyfriend” till graduation. The year is almost ending though, so we will have to stop soon, so he can continue on to his career. I’m actually a fan of him you see and well what you said to me earlier… that you liked me… I’m glad you did, but I’m sorry…. *cough cough*”
Wataru’s heart didn’t break, but he was really glad to hear her answer. “I understand. I guess I was so into your looks and your kindness, I never seen the real you. But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop liking you… Ryusei, Minami may be my first love, but since you’re her “boyfriend”, there is no difference. If you make her upset, I won’t forgive you, bye.” Wataru left and placed Minami’s present on top of the shelf.
“Ryusei, I’m sorry…”
“Hush, get some rest.”
Minami stayed quiet and went back to sleep soundly.
