Minami felt better and today it’s Christmas Eve. It is 11 late at night and Minami and Ryusei were walking together. Ryusei was in disguise so he won’t be seen or noticed. Ryusei has his present and Minami has her present to give. They went store to store, sat and ate. They went to the place Minami took him (see chapter 3). 15 minutes till midnight and they stood in front of the Christmas tree that was set in the middle of the city. They both are nervous to give each other’s presents. Two minutes left, and they didn’t have much time left. Thirty seconds and until it is Christmas, they quickly give their presents and shouted “MERRY CHRISTMAS!”
They both received their gifts and the manager called, “Ryusei, are you around the Christmas tree? If so, I’m going to find you, you have to perform.”
“Okay then, I’ll be ready.” Ryusei hung up. “Minami, I’m going to perform a bit, wait for me okay?
“Sure no problem, I’ll come and watch.”
Ryusei smiled and ran to look for the manager.
“Until I found you, I’ll be by your side forever.”
Everybody screamed and Ryusei looked at Minami and they both smiled at each other.
They were both cold and went back to Minami’s house and then opened each other’s present. Minami didn’t forget to open Wataru’s present and so she did.
<New Years>
Ryusei and Minami went to a shrine and started to wait in line. It was really cold that day so she stood beside Ryusei. Until they arrived to make a wish, they paid the money, bowed, and clapped and started wishing. After that the both went to the “lucky or unlucky” box. They both pulled out a paper and said “lucky” on it. They both smiled and walked over to the key chains. They wrote something down.
“What did you write Minami?”
“I wrote ‘I hope I can find what I’m looking for.’ How about you Ryusei, what did you write?”
“I wrote ‘I want people to smile more, so I’m going to do my best to make them smile.’”
“It’s pretty touching.”
They both laugh and went to go eat.
After New Years, and 2 weeks later, school started again and students were going back to school. Minami walked in the classroom, walked towards to her friends and said good morning. No response. Minami became confused and asked what’s going on.
“What, you still haven’t realized? We are your friends. We go karaoke together, go to stores, cake shops, arcades, and this is how you treat us. Yes, we are Ruka fans too, but aren’t you going way too far? It’s not fair having him all to you. Minami, I’m happy I’m your friend from these past years, but I guess it’s over since you don’t hang out with us anymore.” Minami’s friends walked away as class was about to start.
<During Lunch>
Ryusei walked up to Minami, but as Minami saw him walking towards her, she was avoiding him. Ryusei didn’t know what is going on and so he went to sit by Wataru.
<Class ended, people are going home>
Minami walked alone back home and it started to rain hardily. Ryusei has his umbrella and went to look for Minami. “Wataru, is Minami in the building?”
“No, she just went home. She said she didn’t feel good. Why? Did something happen between you two?”
“Ah no… well, I’m not actually sure…”
“Well… go find her, I want to help, but I’m taking over Minami’s place in the school. Remember, you make her upset, I won’t forgive you…”
Ryusei left the school and looked for Minami. Minami was still walking home slowly and didn’t realize she was in the rain. Ryusei went searching and when he found her, he ran up to her, “Minami!”
Minami turned around and saw him running up to her. She turned around and started running.
“Minami, what’s the matter? Please tell me, why are you avoiding me?”
Minami kept running and she was about to cross the street till Ryusei caught up to her and grabbed her by the wrist.
“That was close; you almost got run over by a car. Are you crazy?”
“Let me go, I don’t want to see you! Get away from me; I lost something that I care about because of you.”
“What? Minami, I don’t understand… what did I do wrong?”
“Before you came to this school I was a fan of you, which is why I want to become your ‘boyfriend’. I can’t make you my real boyfriend, what will the fans thinks of you… My friends think I’m not hanging around with them anymore and always with you, so I plan to stop this, we can get over this, you know enough information about the regular life. Go back and keep working on your career, I’ll support you.” Minami can’t stop her tears.
“You silly girl, what are you talking about? This is fun, and I still don’t know the meaning of a regular life. I still need your help. Come on now, I’ll do your friends a favor. Let’s just get you home before you catch a cold.”
<At Minami’s house>
Minami calmed down and asked Ryusei, “What are you going to do with my friends?”
“Oh you’ll see, they’ll jump for joy for this, and then, you’ll thank me,” Ryusei smiled.
“Um, okay… Ryusei, I’m sorry about earlier. Can you still be my ‘boyfriend’? Because now that I think of it, who can I talk to if my friends are gone and when I can’t see you anymore?”
Ryusei laughed, “Of course I will. Don’t worry about it; I’ll make sure your worries are gone. Now I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Okay bye, bye. Oh Ryusei, thank you…”
The next morning Ryusei walked up to Minami’s friends, “Hello girls.”
The girls screamed and couldn’t reply.
“Okay… anyway, I heard the problem between you girl and Minami. Thank you for being my fan. Please give Minami a chance, she was crying all night about this. As a favor for me and her and a thank you from me, I have some signed picture autographs for you.”
The girls gladly accept them and screamed. Once Minami entered the room, her friends ran up to her and said sorry. Minami looked at Ryusei and he gave her a thumb up. Minami smiled and went to chat wither friends.
