It's been a year since the battle at Hogwarts. A year since we defeated Voldemort. A year since we lost Fred. A year since we lost Remus, Tonks, Dobby...and many many others. It's also been a year since I've seen Harry. Harry Potter, my best friend, my partner in crime, my soul mate...
I guess I should start this from when we were all living together, when we ran away, hunting Horcruxes.
Ron and Harry got into an argument.
---
"Go then!" Harry shouted at Ron angrily.

"Fine." Ron said, ripping the Horcrux off of his neck. He stormed to the tent exit, stopped, then turned to me, "You. Are you coming or are you staying?!"

"Ron." I breathed out.
I can't possibly leave Harry. We signed up for this. He needs us. He needs me.

"Are you coming or not?!" He asked again.

Tears welled in my eyes, "N-No. I'm not. I'm staying."
I knew what I signed up for from the beginning, I couldn't abandon him. He needs us more than ever.

"I see where you stand." He nodded, angrily. Ron dashed outside, not once looking behind him.

"Ron! Ron!" I called after him. I followed him outside, but he was no where in sight. He was gone.
I walked slowly back into the tent, my head hanging low. "He's gone. He's actually gone." I cried.

"Hermione, I'm sorry." Harry said, sympathetically.

"It was the Horcrux , it wasn't your fault." I assured him, "He didn't know what he was saying."
Although true, I couldn't help but feel a little angry with Harry.

The room fell silent for quite some time. Harry and I stood there awkwardly, not looking at one another.
"I think we need some rest." I finally said, storming off to bed.
I then crawled into bed and cried myself to sleep.
---

The next morning I woke up to the smell of eggs and bacon. I sat up and looked around. Harry was in the kitchen cooking.
"I made breakfast." He said when he saw me sit down at the table.

"I see." I nodded.
Why is he being so nice? Does he feel bad for yesterday?

"Here. Eat as much as you want." He smiled and handed me the pan.

"Thanks." I replied, filling my plate.

"Today I think we should just relax. We need to take a break." Harry suggested, taking a seat next to me.

"Harry, we need to keep going. We can't give up." I told him.

Harry grabbed my hand lightly, "We aren't giving up. I know we need a break, that's all."

I bit on my cheek, contemplating the situation. "Alright. One day."
---

"Hermione!" Harry called from outside.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, feeling a bit startled.

"Look how beautiful it is out here!" He laughed, "Come on!"

I walked outside and stood by Harry. He was right, it was beautiful. The snow was perfectly placed on the trees and all over the ground. There was a small deer and it's baby looking for food. The scene was very peaceful.
"Wow." I gasped.
For a minute I had forgotten where we were and what we were doing. Things felt oddly normal.

"It's not often you get to see something as wonderful as this." Harry said, then turned to me. "Let's go for a walk."

"Alright." I smiled.
Maybe he's right. Maybe we do need this break.

Harry held out his arm, and I looped mine in with it. A smile formed on my face as we walked through the forest, leaving footprints behind us as we explored the winter wonderland.

I don't think I knew how much I liked Harry then. With the troubles of Voldemort and finding Horcruxes, it kept my feelings occupied.

"Hermione?" Harry has suddenly pipped up.

I turned to face him as we continued walking, "Yes, Harry?"

"I...I just wanted to tell you how nice you looked." He said nervously.

Blood rushed to my cheeks, "Why thank you."

Harry came closer to me, tucking my hair behind my ear.
"Hermione, when this is all over, I-" Harry then tripped on a root, falling straight into me, knocking me down.
"Blimey!"

I started to giggle, "Nice job, clumsy."

Harry, now on top of me, stared down at me. Our eyes locked and this strange feeling came over me. Something much stronger than friendship. It was something I hadn't really felt with Harry before. We were inches from each other's faces. Harry held onto me and leaned in so close that our lips were practically touching. I was about to go in for the kiss when a sudden CRACK of a twig broke us apart.
"Harry." I whispered. "Someone's here."

Harry took my hand in his, pulling me up from the ground, and led me into the trees. We squatted down and huddled into each other. Although our lives could be in danger, I couldn't help thinking about how extremely close we were right in that moment.
We waited, and waited. Then, suddenly, a deer stepped out of the bushes. It seemed as if a weight had lifted off of our chests and we breathed out heavily.

Harry laughed, "It's alright. Just a loud deer."
Harry scratched his head nervously.

I smiled and looked back into his eyes, "Yes...everything is alright."
I wanted to kiss him. I wanted to just grab his face and press it against mine. I wanted to feel his body pressed against mine. I wanted his hands all in my hair.

"We should get inside, it's getting quite cold." Harry suddenly said.

"Yes." I agreed, "Lets."
