Anabell's P.O.V.
Waking up the next morning to Amber shaking her, I was as happy as ever. I was going to try to see if Daniel could come over for a couple of hours.
"What time is it," I said still not fully awake.
"8:30," Amber said cheerfully.
"8:30! Amber, why the hell would you wake me up at this time," I replied, now slightly angry.
"Well, sorry! I thought you would want to talk to your dad early to let Daniel come over. The more time the better."
"Is my dad even up, Amber?"
"Yeah, he is downstairs making breakfast. You know, your dad can really cook."
"I know. For the longest time he wanted to be a chef. He's a doctor now though, and he loves it."
"Your dad is a doctor that can cook. Score. Why would your mom leave him.?"
"Because she is a ... and went after Carter for his money. I know she regrets it now that my dad made it through medical school and is a doctor rising to stardom. And Carter waists all his money. He doesn't even spend it on me. Its all for the house and my mom, oh, and of course, his beer. "
"Oh, so that's why your room always looked bad compared to the rest of the house. Sorry if that offended you."
"No, I know it's true. But now I got an amazing room!"
Amber's phone buzzed beside her and she picked it up and read the new text message. After she had replied she said to me, "My mom is here. I got to go but I hope to see you on Monday. Ask your dad about that too, ok."
"Ok, I will. I'll walk with you to the door," I said, sad that my friend couldn't stay.
Walking down the stairs, we could here that Amber's mom was already in the family room. She was talking to my dad. They were laughing at something that was supposedly funny, but what it was, I couldn't tell. Coming into their view, Mr. Phillips and Mrs. Philmore tried to quiet themselves but to no avail. They were laughing to hard to stop.
"Hey, mom. What's so funny," Amber asked quite confused.
"Oh, nothing. Jack and I were just sharing stories. Are you ready to go sweetie?" Amber's mom asked.
"Yeah, I am. Thanks Anabell. See you soon." Amber gave me a huge hug while whispering in my ear, "Talk to him. It can't wait and you know it."
Letting go, Amber said, "Thanks, Mr. Phillips for everything." With that she walked out with her mom following behind, but not before smiling and waving at my dad. The minute the door closed I asked, "What was that all about?"
"Oh, nothing. Amber's mom is really nice," he said smiling.
"And single," I muttered under my breath but knew my dad had heard me.
"What was that you said, Anabell?"
"You heard me, single."
"If she's single, why is she called Mrs.?"
"She does that because at first, it was hard to move on without her husband. Now she does it to keep the guys away. But you. Your different, I guess."
"Wait, what happened to her husband," my father asked, now really curious.
"He died right before Amber was born. Mrs. Phillips has had a tough life. Amber's brother also died when she was around six. Now it's just Amber and her mom."
"What, that's terrible!"
"Maybe you should ask her on a date. I mean, come on, it's obvious that you two have something towards each other and it has been two years, dad. You're ready."
