The Duel

"My Queen? It is time for your duel." Athena whispered.

"Is it? Oh, I hadn't noticed." I said sarcastically.

"I'm sorry-"

"Shut up Athena! I'm the Queen of Chaos, Twilight Shadowend. I don't have time to be kind to you, servant. I'm not that pathetic Mia anymore!"

Athena backed up away from me and ran out of the room, tearing up.

"Ugh." I said.

I slipped into a jet-black dress, decorated with rubies or whatever red jem they had here. It had frilly pieces of lace wrapping around it.

"Let's do this." I whispered, snapping my fingers, transporting myself to the arena. It was a gigantic stadium, like one used for American Football except instead of goal posts, it had weapons and shields.

"Mia?" my brother, Rowan asked, "Why did you initiate this battle early?"

"I'm not Mia anymore. Her pathetic, kind soul is gone. I'm Twilight Shadowend, and soon to be your murderer." I yelled.

His eyes flared up, and he stumbled backwards. "What have you done with Mia?!?"

"I crushed her heart." I said, reaching into my chest, pulling out nothing. "It's gone."

"You monster!!!" Rowan shouted, "How could you?!?"

"Well, it didn't take much effort." I said as I strutted toward him, "Fast or slow? For your death."

"I'll pass." Rowan said, grabbed a sword from the rack at his end and charged at me.

With no effort at all, I snapped my fingers and appeared behind him.

"I was going to kill you quickly, but I've changed my mind."

He noticed me and turned around, out of breath. Rowan lunged out at me with his sword, cutting a bit of my shoulder.

"Finally, some blood." I said.

He grunted and slashed the sword blindly.

"That's not going to work." I told him.

Suddenly, he dropped the sword, put his two hands out, and started muttering an incantation.

"What kind of magic will he use?" I sang.

He looked up, glared and a white beam burst from his outstretched hands.

"That's more like it." I said, mirroring the beam with a black one from my hands.

It was a battle of light and darkness. People always presume that good always defeats evil, but that's not always the case.

We both slid back from the force of our two beams colliding until our backs touched opposite sides of the wall.

"Give up." I yelled, "You can't win!"

"Never!!!" He screamed, getting weaker by the second. He was giving in.

With one last burst of light, his hands stopped glowing and he slid down the wall. My beam of chaos headed straight for him, smashing his skull and Turing him to dust.

"Weak." I whispered, "So weak."

Then, I turned to the people watching in the stands. Some were cheering, used to the violence. Others were horrified.

"I, Twilight Shadowend am your new Queen of Chaos!!!"
