"Mia..." A voice called.
"What?!? Who are you what's going on?!? Where am I?!?" I yelled.
"This is your dream. I am only visiting you."
I looked around. It was just an empty space. Black, lonely, and empty. Except for one thing. There was a man in a trench coat standing about 6 feet away.
"What do you want from me?" I asked.
"I think the question is, "What do you want from me? You summoned me here." He said calmly.
"I did? But how?"
"Honestly I have no idea how I was called here, but I do know why." He looked straight into my eyes, "You've found the door."
"Wait what? Are you talking about the giant door that Rowan and I found?" I asked, extremely confused.
"Correct. That door is to the Lost Library of Zerbrechen. It's contents show the past, present, and even future for Time Shatterers." He said in a dreamy state, "If only the doors would open..."
"Wait- Time Shatterers?!? What are those?" I responded.
He snapped back into reality, "You will find out. All you have to do is open the door."
I felt myself starting to get thrown back into reality, "How?!?"
He smiled. "I'll give you a hint: You already know how to open the doors."
Wait what?!? I slammed back into the room I'd gone unconscious in.
"Mia?!? Oh my gosh Mia! You're alright. I thought you were dead!!!" Rowan yelled.
I looked around. Unfortunately, there wasn't a clock in here so I had to ask: "How long was I out?"
"About an hour. Not so long. I was just about to go and get Grandma, but then you woke up."
"How could you even think about getting Grandma Clarissa?!?" I yelled.
"Sorry. I just didn't want you to die." He said sadly.
I sighed, "It's okay. I probably would have done the same. Anyway, in my dream I was told that I already knew how to open the door."
"Hmm... So we already know how to open the door... Are there like magic words?" Rowan said quietly.
"I guess it could be, but do we know any magic words?"
"Hmm..." Rowan mumbled. "I got it!!! Do you remember the old saying Grandfather used to tell us?"
I nodded. ""Da mihi virtutem aperire januas. Mentem mihi propositionem solvere. Levis mihi facultatem ad pugnam." It means, "Give me the strength to open the doors. Give me the mind to solve the riddles. Give me the ability to fight the light."
"What if those are the magic words?" Rowan asked.
"They could be. Let's try it."
We stood up and walked over in front of the door. Rowan looked at me and I nodded.
"Dam mihi virtutem aperire januas. Mentem mihi propositionem solvere. Levis mihi facultatem ad pugnam." We said in unison.
At first it was silent.
"Did we do it?" I asked Rowan.
"Shh!" He whispered.
Suddenly we heard a loud creak and the doors slowly started to swing open.
"Hello!"
I looked further into the darkness around the doors.
"Who's there?!?" Rowan yelled.
"I am Vita. Guardian of the Library of Zebrechen. Welcome." A female voice said.
"Can you step into the light where we can see you?" I asked politely.
She sighed, "Fine, but only because you to must be the heirs to the Throne of Chaos."
She stepped into the light. She had long slick brown hair that was held in a ponytail. It ran down her back all the way to her knees. She had an amber color of eyes and she was wearing a red cloak, she was wearing a purple dress that fell to her knees, the tights she had were black, her top was long sleeved which seemed like it was heavy, and a sword was strapped onto her back.
"I'm sorry, but what is the Throne of Chaos?" Rowan asked.
"Oh shrilz you don't know. Well, you have time to learn. A long time ago there were two family's. The Lux and the Tenebris. They had different ideals. The Lux thought that the world should be kept in balance and the Tenebris thought that balance was chaos. Eventually, the Queen Fair died and that was when the battle began."
"Where is this land?" I asked.
"Ugh. It's a place hidden. There are many different access points, but it's not on this earth. Anyway, the family's started fighting and it all came down to a sister from each family. Sombre Tenebris and Lunette Lux. They fought and fought, but no matter what they tried one could not beat the other. So they agreed on a treaty. They split the country in half. Sombre created the Throne of Chaos and Lunette created the Throne of Order, but that didn't settle the arguments between the people. They would fight without end."
"Wait so how big is the place?" Rowan asked.
"Stop interrupting! It's about the size of like Ohio or something. Moving on, with the people fighting, there was no way to settle it until one side beat the other. Centuries passed and we've gone through many heirs. When you two were born we had to ship you to this world to make sure that you would live. Unfortunately, Queen Mort died when you were, let's see... About 10. We had to keep the country in balance until your return."
"Wait... So Queen Mort's our mother?" I asked.
"Correct."
"What was she like?" Rowan asked.
"She was kind and forgiving. Too gentle." Vita said.
"Sorry. We never got to meet her." I said.
"Don't be. It's not your fault, but now that you're 12 you can rule." Vita said.
"There are two of us. We're both ruling?" Rowan asked.
"Oh! Right. You two have to find to the death. So the stronger one can claim the throne."
I started at Rowan. How could I fight my own brother? He was the only real family I had.
"No!!! I'm not going to fight him!" I yelled.
"Me either! She's my sister! How could I fight her?!?" Rowan said confidently.
"By the end of when I'm through with you you'll both despise each other." Vita whispered. "Now Mia, come along. We have much training to do before your battle." She turned to Rowan, "Please wait here. Master Karu will be here shortly."
She put her hand on my shoulder and guided me through the doors and to the left. I felt a sharp pain and my mind slipped away.
