"Why did you make me bring you here? There's nothing to do, its a kids thing." Nate whined as he pulled into the carpark.
"Because it will be like old times. Do you remember when we came here when we were little? This is the one that came around every few weeks, back then. I bet that now we are older, I will finally be able to beat you at that ring toss game. Is Alison coming? You have been going out for a while now, and I still haven't met her." She was incredibly nervous to see if their joint surveillance scheme would work.
As the rusty deathtrap that Nate called a car pulled into the dusty field they could see it was already starting to fill up. As they made their way between the cars to the open metal cattle fence seperating the two fields, they could see the outline of two individuals waiting behind the cloud of unsettled dust.
When they approached Nate was struck again by the beauty that surrounded Ali and blocked out all things aside from her as they seemed too unimportant or too insignificant to let his attention wander from her. He couldn't help the rush of jealousy when he saw she was lounging against an unfamiliar car with a handsome stranger.
"Hey Nate," she shrieked as she catapulted herself into his arms. He was glad to be reminded that she felt the same as he did. As she untangled their limbs and pulled away from his welcoming embrace she stepped back and pulled forward the other guy. "Nate this is Cade, I've known Cade for like, forever," and seeing the look Nate was giving him, added, "He's my best friends brother, Nate, we just hang out sometimes and he wanted to come and you said you were bringing Tony." She glanced over his shoulder at Toni, jealousy clear in her eyes. "Though I didn't realise he was a she."
"Aw don't be like that Ali, there's nothing like that between us, we've been friends for so long; she's like my sister now." He slung his arm loosely over her shoulders and leaned down to softly kiss her cheek. He then guided her across the open space and bought her a ticket to enter the park with Cade towing Toni awkwardly in their wake.
Cade leaning down and whispered in her ear "I think they just tried to hook us up," which sent Toni into a fit of giggles that were silenced by Nate winking at her over his shoulder.
"Geez, I wish he would stop doing that. Most of the guys Nate hooks me up with are really weird. Do you in any way fall into that category?" She said overly-loud as she sent a decent kick into the back of Nate's leg.
