FORKS, WASHINGTON 2005...
Still...
The air was so still, the trees barely moving in the light breeze that embraced their brances, as it flowed through them lifting the green leaves and dropping them gently, as it passed by. The slight sound of forset creatures foraging and the trickling of the river flowing down stream was all that could be heared, an almost heavenly silence, not even the sound of a grizzly bear snuffling round for food broke the tranquil peace.
Birds began to cherp as two figures ran through the forest at great speed, taking in each and every scent, the trees the flowers the foliage. A blurred mass of splended colours merged together. Jumping over logs and large rocks ever nearing their destination. The sun lay high in the clear sky, being slowly covered by creeping cloud, making the temperature drop slightly, not that they noticed, as they closed in on the unsuspecting prey.
Edward, you go left and cut off their escape I'll go right and cut off the stragglers, we must be quick there are humans in the area, we cannot risk them seeing us.
He nodded and sped ahead, his companion dropped back and let him take over, towards the small clearing up ahead. They both came to a stop and watched the herd of deer as they grazed, Edward readied himself, with the all clear from Alice they both attacked, with ease they had their fill taking down a young buck first, then the rest before desposing of the carcasses. Once they were sure they were clear, they ran back through the trees towards home. They cleared the river behind the Cullen's house, through the trees as they approached the porch, where Jasper stood awaiting thier imminent return. Alice suddenly stopped dead in her tracks at the bottom step, her breathing came to a stop as her golden eyes glazed over.
Jasper went to her side as did Edward watching her vision as it came and then went. Jasper then embraced Alice as she took in a breath and blinked rapidly, shaking her head slightly. She looked to Edward, then returned Jasper's hug.
"What did you see?" Jasper asked looking to Alice then Edward, he could feel confusion and wasn't sure whether to calm them or let the emotions flow out.
"A black car, driving towards Forks, there were two men inside...that was it,"
"I see now why you both are so confused."
"Why would you see something so....irrelevant?" Edward asked, Alice shrugged "I do not know, maybe the car itself has some meaning..."
As Alice spoke the wind suddenly picked up, blowing through the large Cedars that surrounded the house, the beautiful lush green grass and colourful flowers that grew in the surrounding beds swayed. The sky turned black with clouds that seemed to come from nowhere.
Esme appeared, standing in the door way she looked up at the sky.
"Oh my." she said as Edward greeted her as he, Jasper and Alice came up the steps and entered the house as the rain began to pour. "Did you both enjoy your hunt?" she asked while they all made their way into the large "living" area. "Yes we did, thank you." Edward replied.
