when i got home from school, i saw my mom and dad sitting at the dinner table.
"dad, you're home early! are we going somewhere?" they both look up startled.
"well, kindof..." my mother says tenderly. her eyes are ruby red and face is blotchy, making it look like she had been crying. my dad ran is large hands through his balding head.
"look, joshua. there's no easy way of putting this." he pauses, and looks down. "my company is making us move. the office here was bought out. we have a lot of options on where to move. i know you'd rather stay here in seattle, but i really like this job." my dad sighs. i stood there mouth open, wanting to say something however nothing but air came out, like an elephant had sat on my chest. i pull out a chair, squeaking it along the linoleum.
"what are the options?" i ask. my dad shoves a paper with a list of offices in the world.
"we are NOT moving to japan, josh." my mom says as she saw my eyes light up. ive wanted to go to japan for awhile. i scan the list. texas, nevada, canada, new york, practically any state. i see ohio.
"where in ohio?" i ask frantically, closing my eyes tightly and praying that he says colombus.
"probably towards the bigger cities, like the capital. there's this nice town called col-"
"WE HAVE TO MOVE THERE" i interrupt my father causing my mom to jump.
"there is no guarantee that we will be near tyler, josh."
"same town!" i point out.
"they do have a nice school district; good basketball coach too." my mom adds looking at a brochure that has a large building reflecting the sun on its glassy windows. under it are big happy letters that scream COLUMBUS. i smile and pull out my pen so i can write to ty.
"TYLER!
we might be moving to colombus! my dad got a new job and they want him to move! isn't this great! i hope i get to hear your voice!
