Okay guys. I'm sorry to say this, but I despise this story. I seriously thought about deleting it, but I didn't see the point because I put so much work into it, plus isn't not even finished. But I don't even see myself finishing it. I think the concept is, pardon my French, crap, the writing is poor, and it hasn't been fun for me anymore.
So I'm just going to tell you the ending. I'm sorry I couldn't finish it out.
Picking up from what was left off, Shailene is still confused about Shane/The Guy but she still goes to meet him at the Gala or whatever.
When they meet he gets all serious and tells her that he needs to tell her something and that thing is: that he's death. He also tells her that he didn't really love her, he just needed a way to get to her so she'll help him. Death needs help finding Life, basically his soulmate and he needs Shai to find her because of the complications with finding her classifications. Death/Shane/ The Guy believes she's some kind of chosen one and told all the enslaves spirits that she was.
So Shailene goes and gets really, white-hot infuriated. So she goes crazy and her and Death have a big show down in the middle of the gala. And throughout it Death is taunting her and changing his form into people she used to love and herself and "Shane."
After the big fight they go back to The barracks where Death has to hide out, Carmichael takes over, and Shailene wimps out and hides somewhere in the mansion.
Eventually Alex and Nebula and Terrence and Millie team up and help her feel better so they go to Death/Shane/The Guy and decide to help him find Life.
They go and search all over the weird afterlife universes for Life but it turns out that Shai is Life and Death really does love her even though he was lying about not. So they get married.
And then they fight Carmichael an win and replenish the mansion and have kids and free the enslaved reject spirits.
And I think Terrence and Alex get together and Nebula somehow dies and Millie and Hershel break up or something. And Nick either died or gets with Millie.
So yeah. Sudden Departure was great for the most part, guys. It's the end of an era. Thanks for the everlasting support. Sorry I couldn't do better for you.

Science FictionI never actually feared death, nor did I fear dying. I think I had a pretty healthy awareness of it. I was more afraid of what came after it. I know, pretty morbid thoughts for a seventeen year old to have, but when your life is all around "perfect...
