Phil
My heart was racing at top speed as I watched my arch nemesis speed down the hallway without leaving physical or mental damage this time. Why is he running away now? It doesn't make any sense, I bumped into him and knowing Daniel, it would be my fault entirely so he would definitely hurt me if he had the chance. I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples softly. Whatever, you got away safely.
The bell rang and hallways flooded with students. I pulled out my earphones and ducked my head. Drumming my fingers on my thighs trying to imitate the beat of the song, I made my way outside. Of course, the weather was not in my favor, because why would it be. It was pouring, cold, and windy and all I was wearing was a button-up and a coat, with no hood. The cold and a wet outfit would probably not end well for me, as I was already on the brink of getting sick. Then I remembered the hoodie I always kept in my locker for beating-related emergencies, so I went back inside. As I turned the corner, a familiar laugh echoed through the now empty hallways. My heart skipped a beat as I peeked around the corner of the hallway. At the other end stood Daniel and his group of minions, all standing in a circle around him.
"... and I swear, you should have seen her face when I rejected her, who does she think she is, asking me to prom?"
I sighed. Prom was coming and knowing me, I would spend the night that's supposed to be the most wonderful night of the year alone, in my room, watching an anime of some sorts. I stood there, silent, waiting for them to leave. A couple of minutes later, I heard Daniel say his goodbyes, and I worked up the courage to look around the corner again. Not a good idea, I figured out later, as he was walking towards me. I stumbled backwards, to the nearest bathrooms, and hid in a stall. I remained as silent as I could, listening for his footsteps to move away from my location. I let out a sigh of relief, knowing that if Daniel had left, his friends would also have left by now. So I decided for myself that the coast would be clear and I opened the toilet stall door.
The bathroom was empty and all I heard was the sound of the raindrops on the small, narrow windows on the far end wall. It calmed down my breathing, and I opened the door to the hallway. Trying my best to make absolutely no noise, I walked back to the corner I was standing a while ago. The hallway was empty, so I let out a sigh and walked to my locker. Huddled in the back of my dusty locker was the hoodie. I put it on over the button-up I was wearing and returned to the exit of the school, where I pulled the hood of the clean, black hoodie over my head and continued the road to my house.
