~CHAPTER 7: A Hidden War Rages On~
"Hey, new kid you did a good job, mate, my name's Titan.Want a beer?"
I rejected the offer. I went over to Devi to chat. "So, this is the life, huh?" I asked sitting down next to her.
"Oh you bet it is, so I wanted to know, you wanna mess with the cops a bit, after the next meeting." She said taunting around with my jacket zipper.
Before I could answer someone bursted in, "Reaper! Code Black alert!"
"Snake! Code report!" Reaper shouted, from his table now standing up.
"Our allie Nightmare is under attack, by their rival clan Poison!"I jumped. I finally have a chance to show everyone what I got. This is going to be awesome.
Everyone ran out of the building and dissapered, except for Devi. "Hey, so what's going on?" I asked completely oblivious to what was happening.
"We fight by staying hidden and striking quickly when we have the chance, you should probably do the same."She jumped into the trees.
Well I guess I was on my own, I thought as I glanced over and saw a Poison assassin crouched down behind a tree. Instead of going directly to him I blazed ontop of the tree. He hasn't noticed me yet. so I pierced his head of my katana. First blood. I dragged his corpse over to where I thought the police nor the other Poison members would find him, the sewer. I pryed open the manhole and plucked him in there.
As I was gloating in my victory I was choked from behind. I struggled to break free and locked my leg around his allowing me to take him off balance and slam him onto the concrete. I then blazed him with the flamethrower and kicked him into the stil open manhole. Ok, no more being out into the open, I thought now looking for a hiding spot.
I ran up to a small building and climbed windowsill by windowsill. My fingers were burning and turning red after all that climbing. The just now rising sun shone on a metal object in the corner of my eye. It was a harpoon gun next to a dead Poison assassin.
Oh, I am so taking that I thought as I picked it up and strapped it onto the extra strap I carried for this very purpose. I looked up and a cop car was patroling past the area. I ducked down as they're wasn't enough shade to perform the Sunshadow technique.
When I looked up I noticed there was someone in the corner of my eye, I aimed the harpoon gun scope at it, it was Devi. She was bleeding and limping. At first I wondered why she didn't call for help, but I realized the enemy assassins would have jumped on her for the kill. She was looking around hopeless. Time for me to jump in.
~Chapter 8: A Hero Emerges~
Devi kneels down and falls to the floor before I could get to her. On impulse I started to run even faster. Once I got to her I checked the pulse on her neck. She was just unconsious. With all my strength I carried her a bit off the ground so I could move her faster. I sat her down next to a small house.
Frantically I scanned around the area and found they had their garage door cracked open. With hustle I lifted it as hard as I could. I felt the skin on my fingers bust open with extreme pain. The door finally slid up. I ran over to where Devi lay, and checked her pulse, again, still alive.
I carried her into the garage, then placed her in a corner of the room and got out some bandages, from the medikit mom forces me to carry at school (for some reason I still had it), never thought it would ever come in handy. I wrapped them carefully but swiftly along the giant gash she had on her arm.
I couldn't bare her being unconsious anymore so I tried waking her up. She wouldn't budge. Damnit! I checked her body for any more cuts, but then I realized earlier she was limping, her leg must be hurt or something. I checked her right leg, that was definitely the broken one, not only was it limp, but it also had a decently- sized gash on it too. I bandaged that one as well. She was finally showing signs of consiousness she saw me and tried to speak. "Th- Th-"
"Don't speak, save your energy."
She ignored my advice, "Thanks, babe." she kissed me on my neck. Woah, where did that come from?
My mask concealed my blushes, thank god for that. Static sounds came from her shoulder, I opened her sleeve compartment, inside was a radio.
"Reaper here reporting in, it seems Poison have retreated, all assassins are to report back to base immediately." Hearing Reaper's voice has never pleased me as much as it does now.
"Reaper! Code- I don't know, but Devi is unable to carry on."
"Reaper!" I shouted, even more worried then I was before.
"Calm down! Hilarious, just stay there, I'll send out some assassins to help escort her back to base."
I was fine with that, but I just hoped they get here quick enough.
