It was a late night when you were out for a run. You've always loved to go to the park but mostly at night because the lake there is at its most beautiful state. The twinkling stars and the moon lit your way as you began to run through the crisp air. It seems as if everyone in the world is gone besides yourself. Once you make it after a short period of time you head for the shoreline of the lake. Sitting alone, listening to the silent world was always relaxing. After unpinning your h/c hair, it then began to be rustled by the warm night breeze. As you gaze up, you catch glimpse a single shooting star. You make a wish for fun.
"I wish that I'll find the one." You say under your breathe.
As you really begin to relax, you close your eyes and hear the serene sound of water and crickets which completed the relaxing experience. Looking out again, you could see the reflections of the moon and the lights illuminating the water. It was all breathtaking. You stay there for a few more minutes taking in the breathe taking sights. Getting up, you brush the dirt off your hands and begin to walk again looking over to the town lights in the far distance. You felt a bit of excitement and longed to see what was going on. You hardly go so you decided you would just this once since your runs always are the same. Despite the beauty of the park, you feel a bit of curiosity. This once you decide to go.
It did not take long for you to get to the neighboring town. The place seemed lifeless at the hour but all the lights made it feel more lively. You walked past all the closed convenient stores and outlets but suddenly you stop. You hear a peculiar music from what seems to be playing from around the corner you are next to. You approach the corner and before you make it the music stops. Looking around, you see a restaurant that looks to still be lit but was surely closed for the night. The music must have been coming from it. This place looked appealing for a child and for some reason felt familiar.
"A pizzeria?" You mutter going closer.
You've heard stories of strange things happening within the walls of the children's pizzeria, mostly occurring at night. You remember reading a while back about a sanitation report about the children's animatronic band that performs everyday. Supposedly, the animatronic band is relatively odd and creepy according to parents and aren't the cleanest. You don't know too much about its story though. It's a surprise it's still open though.
"They must be closing down for the night." You think to yourself walking closer to the front. You want to see if you can see into the window. Stepping closer your focus becomes fixed on a man walking around. He appears to be a security guard due to his attire. As he looks around, shining his flashlight wall to wall, he stops and begins to turn around. You quickly duck but accidentally fall forward, making a noise on the glass.
"Oh no!" You quickly turn around and press yourself against the cold brick wall. Running would only draw more attention so you held your breathe and held still.
Footsteps get closer.
"Click"
The light suddenly shines through the window and you scoot as close as you can against the wall. After a few brief moments, the light flicks off. Waiting a few seconds, you dash for the sidewalk hoping that the security guard has returned to his work.
You hear a voice from inside and you knew that it was directed towards you.
You knew you shouldn't run. Instead, you stopped reluctantly and turn around to see a man come out of the front entrance. Your heart begins to race even more then it already was.
"Hey! Were you the one making the noise?" He asks firmly.
"I'm s-sorry sir!" You took a second to think, "I dropped something and I went to grab it but tripped."
"Ah.. Well alright", he grinned obviously not buying it, "What are you doing out this late, miss?"
This man looks very attractive, you think to yourself. He has a distinctive look about him, something you've never seen before.
"I was walking." You say looking at your hands nervously.
The security guard looks down then back up again with a slight frown.
"It's unsafe to walk alone at night like this, especially for a pretty miss as yourself. You never know whom might be in the shadows", he says with an eerie grin. He soon laughs when he notices the terrified look you have.
"Hey, stay safe though. I've got to get back to work." He says followed by a single wave and heads back in.
You are not sure how to feel. Luckily you didn't get in trouble though. You turn around and begin to walk again pulling your hair behind your ears.
Looking at the clock on your phone, you decided it was time to go home before you get into anymore trouble. You take one last glance at the dark, dimly lit side of the town. You feel a breeze but in contrast to the warm lake breeze this one was cold. You rub your arms and as you step out of the post's light, you hear quick footsteps behind you. Your heart nearly beats through your chest and you quickly turn around to see a tall dark figure. Was it the security guard? It couldn't be. He wasn't that tall! The figure pulls something out of his coat and you hear a click. From the dim light you see a silver reflection from the thing he was holding.
"Oh my god!" You began to run knowing what he had – A gun.
"BOOM!"
The unidentified man shoots you in the lower back. Your breathing gets heavy as you feel the warm blood dripping. This didn't help but panic you more. The pain soon follows like a fast wave. This pain is so immense that you can't hardly move causing you to fall to the ground. Why was this happening?
"Help!", you scream in pain, "H-Help! Please!"
You look around frantically but it all seemed like a growing blur. There was no one in sight that you could see. You didn't even see the man who shot you for he must have fled. You lay against the concrete and tears fall as you cringe in pain. You try to get up but the pain leaves you immobile.
"H-...Help!"
The ring of the gunshot rings in your head as you lay down. Is this the end? Your vision soon becomes consumed by darkness and all sound ceases.
