Chapter 8: Not the dress!

It was getting later by the hour and it was almost time for my welcoming party! I was so excited! As I walked to the plaza, there were fairy lights! But that was all I saw because someone put there hands in front of my eyes.
"Hey, do you mind?!"
"No! Your not peeking at the plaza! It's a surprise what it looks like! Now, it's almost time! I'll lead you to Cadenza's house to change." The voice I heard was Zoey's. She must really want it to be a surprise. Still with her hands on my eyes, she guides me to cadenza's house.
"Umm...can you stop blinding me with your hands now?" She gently removes my hands.
"Ok, see you at the party!" Zoey smiled and walks away to the plaza.

I open the door and walk downstairs. I see cadenza at her seeing machine and I knock on the wall. She stops her machine and turns around.
"Here's the guest of honour herself! Now I've made a dress for you-"
"Wow,wow,wow,wow,wow. Hold on. A DRESS?!"
"Yeah, I mean. Duh, it's a formal party."
"Cadenza, why is it formal?!"
"Well, it was either we just didn't care about it not being formal or Aphmau really wanted to see you in a dress" Cadenza smirks at the last comment.
"Uggggh!" Cadenza saw my 'tomboy stress' and comforted me.
"I mean hey, no one has ever seen a dress like this is the village. It's not tooooooo girly, and you might impress a certain, oh I don't know. Laurence at your party" she winks at me. I blush at the thought
"No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no,no. C-cadenza it's not l-like that" I stutter.
"Well your face tells me otherwise~"

I get so embarrassed by Cadenza's comment, I run into the change room and put on the dress. I quickly step out,not even remembering what the dress looked like. Cadenza's jaw dropped and she squealed with joy.
"Ok you are so wearing that! And I got some shoes that m-"
"Wow,wow,wow. You choose what I wear and I choose my shoes"
"Hmmm... Ok fine, deal" she moans. I then see some sneakers and put them on. They looked new and were very comfortable.
"There you go, your 'tomboy-ness' is back. Oh and don't worry, I'm making some tomboy clothes so you can wear when your not on duty." She smiles. Then she grabs my arms and leads me to a mirror. The reflection that I saw, didn't feel like me. It didn't even look like me in my opinion.
"I'm not..."
"Say it!"
"I'm not hideous...hehe" I awkwardly giggle.
"Not.even.close" Cadenza smiles and I hug her.
"Well, I'll meet you there! I still have to get ready. Bye!" Cadenza waves as I left her house. I kept looking at the door until she closed it and I hid in some of the bushes next to her house.
"Shit, shit, shit! I can't be seen like this. I'm... Girly?! It's disgusting!" I whisper to myself. Lurking through the bushes I make my way to the plaza without being seen. As I look at it, the plaza was beautiful! It had fairy lights, lighting the whole plaza, a buffet table full of food and Kawaii-Chan's delicious sweets, and there was even a dance floor. As I kept peeping without being noticed, Garroth and Dante are in arms length to me. They then begin to speak to each other
"So, do you think Autumn and Laurence are gonna get together?" Dante raises an eyebrow. I blush at the thought, but Garroth just grins.
"Maybe...hey! Speaking of Laurence and Autumn. Where are they?" Garroth glances around the plaza.
"I dunno, maybe doing something their not suppose to" Dante winked and Garroth and I blushed at the comment. I never thought Dante was so....so.....Dirty minded!

I slowly and quietly walk around the plaza, and sneak up the mountain to the Lady Irene's Shrine. As I walk up the final step I see Laurence dangling his legs over the edge of the cliff. I slowly try to walk away when...
"Autumn, I know your there! Come out, it's ok." I hear Laurence say still looking forward. Stepping out into the open I then see Laurence facing the horizon. I walk over and sit next to him.
"So, why aren't you at the party?" I ask, he slowly turns his head as he says,
"Well I should be asking you the same-" his head turns to me slowly, as he looks at me with his emerald eyes, he blushes at the sight of me.
"Autumn....your in a-"
"Dress? Yeah, I know...." I interrupted him.
"You look nice" he says looking at the ocean in front of us.
"Thanks, but I don't think I do." I said bluntly.
"Why? What up with you not being a girl?" He asked. I simply answered.
"Tomboy"
"Oh, well that's cool, I guess"
"What do you mean 'I guess'?" I asked in slight anger.
"I mean, it's just different to see a tomboy. They act so strange" he grins.
"Hey!" I whine and playfully punch him in the arm. After that we sat in silence for a while.

"Hey Laurence..." I caught his attention as he glanced at me. I laid on the ground with my arms crossed behind my head as a pillow. With my legs still dangling over the edge of the cliff. "...Random question..."
"Yeah?" He raised an eyebrow.
"How does it feel to love someone?" I turn my head to him. "You know...like how you love Aphmau." He then laid with me, he crossed his arms on his stomach and sighed.
"Why do you want to know?" He asked calmly.
"....Because....I don't know what love is..." I look at the stars and his face looked confused. He then sat back up with the same look on his face.
"How do you not know hat love is?"
"I told you remember?" I said bluntly.
"Ok....well....love is when you 'like' someone, or have strong feelings for someone . More than a friend. But it's not just that, love is when someone makes you feel happy, like no one else. They make you feel special, like it's only you and them most of the time" he smiles " they make you feel like your the happiest person in the world! And most importantly, when you feel your love for someone, at least I believe, they become more beautiful" he looks at me. I smile at him, and he looks into my eyes,
"And when you feel sad or depressed, they'll comfort you, no matter what you've done. But love like this, can be shared with friends too. Because they make you feel happy, because they make you feel special, because they make you more beautiful" he smiles.
"Laurence.... I think I-"
"Oh there you guys are! I've been looking all over for-....did I interrupt something?" It was Aphmau.
"Oh no, not at all" Laurence answered, as he got up and approached Aphmau. " my, my, how beautiful you look this evening Aphmau" he said as he kissed her hand. There was a sudden pain in my chest, but it went away as soon as it came.
"Well Laurence, you should be saying that to Autumn. After all, she is the guest of honour. This party is for her after all."
"Oh really...I-it's no need A-Aphmau...lets just get to the party" I smiled as I grab her hand and we walk down to the plaza.

As we enter the plaza cheers start to roar. Aphmau then walked on a make shift stage and started to speak.
"My people, we are gathered hear today to celebrate the trust and loyalty we have gained from a new member of our village! And we also are her to celebrate Autumn, becoming one of my knights! " the village roared with cheers and whistles.
"We thank you for your honest and trust worthy personality!" She then waves me over and I kneel before our Lord.
"Now" I hear a noise slice the air, I saw it was Aphmau arming her sword.
"With this sword, you shall be not just a member of our community, you shall be a guard of Phoenix, but most importantly a friend".She places the sword on each of my shoulders. When the same noise I heard before is made. The village cheers and Dante and Garroth lift me up on their shoulders. It was like they were hoisting the flag on a ship. I saw smiling faces and people laughing with joy.

-Garroth's POV-
Dante and I hoisted Autumn up, I saw Laurence talking to, or more like hitting on Aphmau. As soon as the crowd departed I glared at Dante giving him a 'signal' as soon as we walked to Laurence....

-Autumn's POV-
Garroth and Dante then was walking to Laurence and Aphmau.
"Hey guys could you put me dow-" I was interrupted by them flinging me off their shoulders and onto Laurence. As I try to get up on the upper half of my body, I am then faced to face with Laurence, only inches away from him. I looked at him for what seemed like a while with wide eyes and a red face.
"I-I-I....Laurence I'm-"
"It's ok, could you get off me please" he looked away from me. I then get off Laurence and see Aphmau, Dante and Garroth grinning.
"What are you guys smiling at" I say as I get up...
