Chapter 2: Garroth's secret

I walk up the road to Aphmau's house when I spot a Garroth near the docks, he seems to be alone. So I walk down the stairs and walk to him.
"Hey, Garroth" I say and it catches his attention as he turns around to face me.
"Oh, hey Autumn. Whats wrong?" He had a concerned look on his face.
"Oh nothing's wrong it's just that...before when I offered to journey the village by myself you mouthed 'Thank you'. What I want to know is why?" I was very curious. "Oh, and I also saw you blush when Aphmau answered the door. Did that have something to do with it?" I raised an eyebrow, and Garroth's face lit up red like a redstone torch.
"Ha! I was right." I chuckle.
"Well I-I-I umm..." He stuttered.
"Garroth, there's no point in lying to me" I say calmly. He sighed in defeat
"Well I kinda.... lk...Ama"
"You what?"
"I kinda lik...Ahma"
"Garroth spit it out-"
"I like Aphmau! Ok? I like her, and I'm too shy to tell her how I feel... There, happy?" Garroth sat down and looked at the horizon, away from me. I sat down opposite him, and smiled.
"Garroth..." He returned his attention back to me.
"Your secrets safe with me, and I promise I will not tell a soul. My lips are sealed" and I zipped my lips imaginarily. I stood back up
"And maybe...I can help you with that shy thing going on. I mean after all, I am still a girl" I looked at him and smiled.
"Thankyou Autumn, I am grateful" he smiled back at me.
"No problem! See ya Garroth!"
"Until next time."

I then walked up the dock stairs and as I was about the turn to the village a female voice calls out to me.
"Hey Autumn!" I turn my head and it was Lady Aphmau waving me over. I walked up to her and greeted her as so did she.
"Come in, I want to discuss some things with you. If your not busy."
"Oh don't worry, right now I have all the time in the world" she escorted me to her kitchen table and told me to take a seat, I gladly did so as she sat down opposite me.
"Now, I wanted to discuss...What role would you like to play in our village?" Aphmau asked curiously. Honestly I had no idea.
"Well, um... I don't really know...first if you don't mind I would want to settle into the village first. Before I make a career choice for the village." Every word I say to Aphmau is with the up most due respect, If I don't act formal to a Lord, I'm afraid I'll be kicked out of the village. Aphmau saw through my respectable self and said
"It's ok Autumn, you don't have to be all formal. I mean, I respect it but, it doesn't matter. Don't act like I'm your leader and what everything I say goes, think of me as your friend here at Phoenix Drop!" She smiled a genuine smile at me.
"Now for a couple days you can sleep in my guest bedroom down stairs while we make you a house. And tomorrow I would like to show you and introduce you to everyone in the village if that's ok"
"That is not a problem Lord Aphmau, and Thankyou for your hospitality"
"No thanks needed, and it's starting to get late. We should both get to bed." She smiled and a knock was at the door. Aphmau and I headed to it and Aphmau opened it, It appeared to be Laurence.
"Oh, hello Laurence"
"Hey Laurence" Aphmau and I greeted him.
"Hello Aphmau, and hello Ninja Girl, just wanted to check on you" Laurence grinned.
"The name is Autumn, Au-tumn" I sound out for him.
"Now all I hear is you saying Aki, and what type of name is that?"
"It's actually her-" Aphmau tried to speak but I interrupted her.
"I'll take it! Now Aphmau and I are all fine so Thankyou and goodnight" I said as I closed the door in his face.
"Whew. He's gone."
"But he's right outside"
"Meh, close enough. Now I think we should head to bed" I yawned.
"Ditto" Aphmau agreed. She showed me to my room (for now) and I flopped on the bed. I haven't felt this comfortable in years. As I relaxed my muscles started to ache, I've been travelling so long I never...thought I would find such a- and I was out like a light.

The Next day I woke up to the smell of something delicious. I stretched, made my bed and came upstairs to see two little children eating their food at the table. As soon as they saw me one of them looked horrified and the other looked sceptical.
"M-M-MOMMY!" The one with blonde hair and blue eyes screamed and clenched onto his mother's legs.
"Yes, what's wr- Oh good morning Autumn."
"Good Morning. I see I haven't met these two cuties yet. Hi I'm Autumn, and I'm staying in the guest bedroom while the village builders make me a house. There's no need to scream, it's ok" I kneel down, speaking slowly and moving to the small child clenching at his mothers legs. I then reached for his hand and held it.
"There's nothing to be afraid of little one. Now, what's your name." I asked as he started to calm down.
"M-M-My name is L-Levin" he stuttered and went back to his seat. I joined them and Aphnau placed a plate of weird food in front of me.
"Uh, what is this? It smells delicious, but what is it?" I asked.
"Have you never tried Pancakes before?" The other child asked.
"No actually, I've been alone all my life so, I've only survived on what I had from the wild" I grinned, but 'pancakes' looked good so I took a bite with a knife and fork. It was sweet from the maple syrup and fluffy on the inside.
"Mmmm, pancakes are delicious." The kids laughed and so did Aphmau. I guess I'm unique in my own special way.

"Ok now boys, go meet up with Zoey at the plaza" as soon as Aphmau said that they ran out the door and into the village. We were then alone,
"Why didn't you tell me you've been alone for all these years?" She has a concerned look on her face.
"I dunno" I stood up "because I don't want to be treated differently in this village" I turned around and looked at Aphmau.
"I won't treat you any differently"
"And you have to promise to not tell anyone,please. I don't want anyone to know. And I told your kids because... I dunno kids are kids. Who are they gonna tell? Just... Please Aphmau..." Her concerned look faded and she stood up in front of me.
"It's ok, your secret is safe with me!" She smiled and gave me a hug.
"Ok and today I want to show you around the village!"
"Sounds great!" I was so excited to meet everyone in the village!

We walked out the doors of Aphmau's House and headed towards the village.
"So who have you already met?" Aphmau stopped and asked, getting ready to show me the village...

•Laurence's POV (rare)•
As I walked outside I noticed that Aki and Aphmau; my love~ was there. As I looked down the path they were on I saw someone staring at them, it was Brenden. I snuck up behind him and reached for his shoulder
"So how's the view?"
"Ahh! Laurence you scared the hell out of me!"
"Stalking the new girl I see. If she sees you, she's gonna get creeped out~" I gave him some advice.
"Well what's her name? That cutie has to be mine! So tell me!" He was so desperate, but it just made me have less respect of women for him.
"Well why don't you ask her yourself? She's looking this way" I smiled and waved to Aki.

•Autumn's POV•
I look up ahead to see Laurence wave, and I waved back smiling. Aphmau then approached Laurence and this other guy who seemed to be staring at me. But I shrugged it off.
"Hey Laurence"
"Hey Aphmau, Aki." He greeted us. "I would like you to meet my pal Brenden" I looked over to Brenden and he was still staring.
"Uhh" I was confused, was he, you know, a 'special' person by any chance? If not he has a serious drooling problem. Laurence then elbowed him and he came to his senses.
"H-Hi..." He talked in his, supposed normal voice "U-um and who might you be?" He asked in a sly voice but at the end he squeaked.
"Sup! The names Autumn but you can call me Aki if you want" I introduced myself to this 'Brenden'. "And you must be the mouse, Mr.squeaker. The mouse that had puberty from 13 and that is still standing. You have broke the record my friend" at the end of my comment everyone was laughing uncontrollably.
"Okay, sorry, I'm sorry. Truce?" I put out my fist once I was done laughing my head off. And he pounded it.
"Alright!" I smiled. "So Aphmau where off to next?" I asked curious to go ahead and meet new people. Aphmau introduced me to the whole village, I met tons of people who now I trust as my friends. I wouldn't have asked for a better home....
